Rat traps

Unless your overrun, try not to use poison, secondary poisoning is a major thing these days

( paperwork required)

Dig a hole put in a wooden box and lid that will allow say 3 traps to be set inside, I find a open hands height with a conventional rat trap works best , if your using a rat trap screw them to the base so they can't jump on going off, drill then a at each end a 50mm hole and connect 50mm pipe to the two holes put in the ground with lid level with ground so you can lift and check Iay the pipes out to resemble two rat holes backfill and after a couple of days they should be using it, place some pellets or wheat in if required.

If you have to resort to rodenticide you have very secure bait box as well, check em every time you feed up

Three or four around where you have a problem will sort reasonably quick

Patrol - I work in pest control and your answer is one of the most sensible I have read in a long time. I'm not sure DIY has to produce paperwork, but you would have to read the label of whatever you are using and follow the instructions there.

Very good response.
