a bit different but I have used bitumen primer about £15 a gallon available from roofing suppliers on my truck for the last 6 years have sprayed everything front to back refreshed about every two years as bits wear off no rust issues on 02 pickup I spray it on with a paraffin gun on air line but could be sprayed on with a garden sprayer two good cotes with drying time in between first time then one cote to top up there after and after 6 years nearly finished the gallon

don't forget spray inside the chassis as they can rot from inside out

if you wish you can brush on but spraying gets to all those places you cant reach

Rust it not the only issue with a Navara it will probably snap behind the cab first.

Depends what you are towing mate. Yes there are reinforcing plates available from third parties, but the number one cause of snapping seems to be rusting of the main rails from the inside out. At least Nissan are trying to address the problem with FOC chassis swaps or buy back offers, but not actually admitting publicly that there is a serious manufacturing fault. I would recommend to anyone on here who owns an 06-09 D40 Navara or Pathfinder to get on to the Navara snapped chassis group on Facebook.

Big problem in Aus apparently, no end snapped towing boats and trailers.

Yep, snapping in a different place than the UK ones though.. OZ trucks snapping or bending behind the rear spring due to a mix of overloading, 6 versus 10 bolt tow-bars and **** chassis design. The UK Navaras are snapping in front of the rear spring exactly where the gap between the cab and the bed is. The chassis are rotting due to **** QA in the Spanish factory.

That's where all the pics I've seen of the Aus one's snap, just behind the cab. Only pulling ski / sports boats as well :hmm: Can't be rot / rust over there, probably just bumpy tracks and the chassis just can't take it. Bad though to have them break in half, serious defect.

Better not mention the Timing Chain problem that Nissan ignore then !

It's going as soon as the warranty runs out. It's a shame as it's a decent specced truck and was going to be a keeper.. I could get a duplex timing chain fitted, but it's over a grand in parts and labour. Poss Amorok or Hilux next (if funds allow)
