BASC Membership reminders

Is it just me or is anybody else surprised at how much money BASC must be wasting by sending out the big renewal packs to people with syndicate or club memberships. Many of us have multiple memberships of BASC so will have received multiple packs which to be honest are irrelevant as if we are re-joining the club or syndicate then BASC will be part of this process. There was not one piece of useful information in these packs that I wouldn't expect to receive with my membership when it comes through.

We are governed by law regulated by the FCA, that we must send out a full renewal pack including the insurance documents to all members when they are due to renew, regardless of what category of membership you may hold, or indeed if you are a member of more than one club

My contact details are on the reminder so if you have any questions about your membership its probably quicker and easier to email me directly, its only by chance that I stumbled across this thread...

How come you have kept the memberships running? Or are they all club memberships? I cancelled my personal membership when I took on a club membership.

Hi Browning525 I am in 2 wildfowling clubs and a pigeon club that all include BASC membership. I get refunds for my extra wildfowling membership and will hopefully get one back for the pigeon club when the wildfowling renews. My point was that they send out a big pack saying that they have written to the club as your membership is due to expire including details of all the benefits membership brings and insurance details. I have received two of these for my wildfowling clubs and thought that this was very wasteful but as you can see from above, I have now been informed that this is a legal requirement. As it is I am not renewing with one of the clubs as I have joined another so when I get the memberships through I expect that all the insurance documentation will come through again then.

Do mine on a Direct Debit. The new card just arrives with a few pieces of info about updates etc. I have to say the Magazine has gone from strength to strength and David you might just pass my congrats onto the staff responsible. It is now a quality magazine. Keep up the good work and I know lots of that goes on without members realising it.
