Magnet battery

Recommended Posts

I use a sealed Lucas AGM battery, 23 amps. Small enough to fit neatly into my seat-box, not overly heavy and turns my A1 magnet all day. Being sealed, there's no danger of acid leak. Just remember to charge it fully after each outing. Hope that helps.

When I made my 1st rotary many years back with a car wiper motor the measure'd consumption with real birds on average was between 1.25 and 1.5 amp per hour in calm conditions peaking briefly to 2+ amp on start up.

Wind strength, bird weight and temperature can all have an effect on the amps used per hour.

As a rough calculation I use the intended run time of the rotary times 1.5 (the amp consumption) = amperage battery needed.

e.g 10 running hours x 1.5 amps = 15 amp battery or bigger required.

By no means was this a laboratory test :)
