get in touch with Carl at Airtech,, £160 and you will get double the shot count at least, and the rifle will wee all over a hw100, he totally rebuilds it and all I can say is the rifle comes back superb, he has done two of my buddies ultras and they are now superb rifles, also no bounce at all, proper silky smooth to shoot and very very consistent over the chrono

you will not get double shot count with just a tune, with a tune maybe one or two extra shots, bigger cylinder more shots, put a regulator in it then it will be more consistant, but if the tuner is putting a reg in it then he aint all that good as mine does 3fps spread without and i know people who have had them fitted with not so good results.... best option is get prices, get a realistic time scale and get them to stick to it and then work out what you can afford..

and if in doubt come and look at my rifles, i got two tuned R10'S .177 and .22 by xtx and a JB blueprinted ultramax, iam only in sheffield so drop me a pm

sorry bud,, I agree with regards the shotcount and tune , but as for the rest it makes me laugh,, I used to have a lot of respect for JB but now I have seen his internals inside the ultra well all I can say is " YOU continue to use him,,

also can I ask you what reg XTX are using and have you seen one,, xtx just fit the reg they don't build them either,, I could tell you a lot more but I wont on a public forum,,by the way I,m not slating xtx they did a fantastic job on one of my air rangers, but its basically obvious you don't know xtx as much as you think,

Carl at airtech totally rebuilds the rifle to how it should have been built in the first place, he also builds his own reg,s and every other moving part in the ULTRA, he also puts a larger cylinder on, he will do whatever you want,, and it is quality workmanship,,

as for the other two you have mentioned sorry but JB is well past his best,, and the last ultra I looked inside of that he had touched was nothing short of a disgrace with certain parts grinded down so they would fit,, I wouldn,t touch JB,s work with a barge pole now,

xtx on the other hand are fine but they only fit a SUPPLIED REG,

if you need a reg for an ultra then there are only two out there that will perform superb and they are the TENCH and AIRTECH reg

also just a quick one for £160 carls work is very high quality, and the rifle is a totally different rifle when it comes back,

by the way I don't own BSA,s but if you don't believe a thing I,m saying then go straight to the horses mouth and ask GOLFSHOT or HOGGYSREELS on here, they will tell you just how good carls work is and also what shot count they are getting

cheers Evo

If the gun is to be used for hunting and you do not expect to shoot more than forty shots in one session, then as long as you are using a pellet that suits the barrel, I personally would`nt spend the extra money. A used Ultra at the right price may be worth spending another £160+ on, but out of box the Ultra is a good gun for the money and does what it was built for the only thing I think that lets it down is the low shot count, which is only a pain when plinking or practicing your marksmanship skills on static targets as you have to keep topping the air up.

I have an older ten shot .177 Mmc Ultra that when target shooting after four magazines needed topping up with air, as I said after a while it becomes a pain. so I modded it myself. I did`nt fit a regulator but went the route of the longer air tube, I shrouded the barrel to quieten it down a little and played around with the internals, transfer port, striker etc, I now get 90 good shots, it will group around the size of a 5p piece at twenty five yards with Bisley Magnum pellets and power is set at 11.4 fpe which I am quite happy with.

agree to fitting the larger tube, that comes in the price , also you get a fully shrouded barrel , a internal silencer/air stripper, they really are a pleasure to shoot and with the right pellets very very accurate,

the problem with them is there is too much bounce from the mech , so much so people are fitting de pingers in the tube, but once Airtech have done his job all you get is a tiny click, in honesty probably one of the nicest rifles I have had the pleasure of shooting, here is a pic of one of his ultra se,s as you can see there is no need for a silencer as it is whisper quiet and also the longer bottle/tube

haha you said a tune can at least double shot count, and yes xtx do fit hume regs, what about carls reg ? oh yes lets copy a huma reg, vented oh lets copy a lane reg, oh i red designed the superten reg haha copy of the one jb did.. he may well build his own but he didnt design them.. the bloke that asked jb himself to help design a pcp for the american market when he first started doing rifles.. oh bet thats not ture either ! i will put my rifle up against any other tuners rifle ! i have offered three times when its been said and nothing comes back.. i have had times i was going to send him a rifle to have a go a but every time i get bad reports from rifles of mates that try and come back shooting all over like a shot gun.. i sent mine to jb and its ******* amazing, 3fps spread 100 full power shots with a 250mm cylinder and un regged.. never had any issues with him. also carl makes out his cylinders are cheaper too. £55 ! same from jb was only £35 plus vat.. and the ultramax se blueprint most of the internals are not there either as he completely replaces the valve with the one he designed to be used with it...

I can vouch for 'Tench's' work , he 'regged' My Ultra , and my AA S200 , three years ago, and both still perform flawlessly.

He knows his stuff does Simon. :good:

he certainly does,,and winning the worlds just proves it,

a great helpful guy also
