its been a struggle to say the least this harvest, usually we are spoilt for choice to make some good bags around now, but this year the birds have just not turned up on the stubbles on a lot of our land, we have done well on one farm on the laid barley shooting over 300 in about 5 shoots, now we have stubble on the farm the birds have hung around the old fella had a bag of 40 on Tuesday on one stubble I had a look yesterday at the other and they were bailing the straw but birds flighting over it decided to come back today they didn;t start flighting till after 1 pm so I picked a spot rolled 3 bales together and set up at 1.30pm,with the magnet and decoys, some crows were on the field when I was watching so stuck a few crow decoys out and a few came for a look through the day and paid the price it was hard work at first to get the pigeons to decoy had to take long crossing shots to get a few down I then I set the flapper up only when we had about a dozen out in the pattern they came closer, not all decoyed in fact only a small portion did we ended up just leaving shot birds were they fell, it brought birds over us and crossing us it was like flighting rather than decoying but the shooting was brilliant with some absolute jaw droppers brought down, we finally called it a day at 6.45pm

picked 117 pigeons and 7 blacks
