Which riffle

No competition - the AA is practically a factory built custom rifle with the inbuilt ability to make a complete mockery of your shooting skills - any attempt to blame this gun for a missed shot is pointless. Keep an eye on the website "news now" as I have seen nice one's up for £200 now and then - if you find one you should take a mask and a cosh cos you're stealing the thing - try one though cos they are fairly heavy.

The TX200 and Prosport are excellent rifles, accurate and easy to service or tune at home. The weight of an underlever springer is heavier than a break barrel usually. But of the quality ones, i.e. Air Arms, Weihrauch and Walther the weights are very similar. However, the balance is different. On the TX200 it is in my opinion a little further forward than the Prosport which uses the same engine and is only cosmetically different.

If I were you I'd go to a good gunshop and try mounting the TX200, Prosport and HW97 to see which you prefer.

With 2 such similar guns you really need to take a test at a range or dealer to see which sits best for you.

People say that the 97k needs to be fettled but I used mine straight form the box and was more than happy with it for several years. It only got opened up a couple of weeks ago to see why it's started to diesel.

On the other hand the tx200 makes more noise during the cocking sequence and you have to remember to click the anti beartrap catch off.

Try and try both is your best option. There are some good 2nd hand deals to be had on newish guns as a lot of people buy them and can't handle the weight.

Purchased a second hand (like new) TX200 about 5 weeks ago from Solware. Pretty sure whoever had it first did not like the weight, BUT I do, it is VERY stable and scary accurate. Have no knowledge of the other model but I am VERY pleased with the TX200 and have no problem with the cocking mechanism or the 'bear trap'. The cocking might just be heavy for a lady or someone strength impaired.

Reading your initial post, you have a 'permission' and are 'getting back into shooting'.

Well for my two pennies worth , The AA TX200 , and the HW97 are stonking quality guns , and will shoot as well as you can.

If , your perm is of a reasonable size, and you are not 'roaming' around much, either one will be perfect.

But as , mentioned previously they are heavy to carry for any length of time, also I found, with my sausage fingers , when hunting

in the dark ,loading pellets in the 'bear trap' to be extremely fiddly,, especially when it was cold.

Others , may disagree, but for me , I'm another HW95K shooter. Its just seemed more practical all round.

However if you are a body builder with fingers of a watchmaker , this may not be the case for you , and I wish you well . :good:
