Wet and windy weekend

I woke up Saturday morning to the sound of the predicted rain. Looking at the weather app on my phone it was meant to ease off around 13.00 but come this time it was still heavy. An hour later the sky brightened up slightly and the rain slowed down so I jumped in the disco to try get a few hours in. I went straight to a field of rape stubble I'd seen a good number of birds feeding on during the week, I watched for a bit and in between the showers the birds started flighting about. The wind was seriously strong blowing my hide and the pigeons all over the place, at times the rain was horizontal. I started with 15 shells and soon had a couple to go on the magnet. The pigeons battled their way against the wind to the decoys and provided some testing shots. After 3 hours a very dark rain cloud was making its way over so I called it a day and threw my gear into the disco. I ended the afternoon with 67 birds.

This morning I headed down to my local clay ground with a friend to shoot a few rounds with the .410. I had family plans for this evening so with the car already loaded I headed straight out for another short session. I found some birds on a field of wheat stubble so set up armed with the .410. Again it was very windy and the birds weren't playing ball today no matter what changes I made to the pattern. I managed 25 birds which was nice with the little pop gun.

Cheers

Ben

She was either painting her nails or found a man with a big gun ( 12 Bore) ?????

I was told size doesn't matter and it's how you use it that counts??????

You always seem to get a decent bag whatever the conditions. Good for you.

Whatever happened to your novice shooting companion of two weeks ago?

She will be back out soon I'm sure!
