Take ideas from all and turn it into what suits you. once you start you will be changing things and redesigning.

dont forget facebook too

+ 1, as you have found several threads go with what sounds best for your abilities and budget.

I'd personally advise using the SURE24 E700 as a well proven readily available UK sourced and guaranteed foundation to your build. Think carefully about your intended use: One's with large lenses are good for foxing but pants for ratting. There are in between options too and most people forget about allowing themselves a wide field of view which is what a spotter is all about.

Ian, I am on the same quest that you are. Neil provided me with the following link:

If you go to the DIY Nightvision forum you will see a number of stickies for various category of NV. Each sticky is a library of users builds. I am now trawling through these builds working out what I like and what I want out of my system.

If you are doing a spotter with remote screen ie in the cab, 7" is no problem.Depends on what you want from your system.

I am about to try a near eye viewfinder on my add on, only to get rid of the reflection from my 5" screen ( I already have red filter on), I have not used the sure 24 camera but a similar cheaper sony one from China and I am still pleased with it (can see rabbit at over two hundred yards no problem.)

Hi,

nice, do you have a link from your camera. I am still thinking hand held with 7 inch. I have used some jocking 1 million CP lamps in the past and I can't see the finished product being heavier than those. I have bought 2 5 inch screen now so will have a dabble.

Cheers

Ian

7" will be to big and it will light you up like a xmas tree. They are ok in the cab with a swivel E700 on the roof with a T50 ir.Would go bigger than 5" on the spotter though.
