Rope Bangers

They're Great to use when the birds want to land in a wood nearby. There is a small fire risk when it is very dry and when it is like this I suspend the rope in a 5 gallon metal can with the top cut out. The can collects All of the bits and acts like a megaphone. The downside is that sometimes the rope glow goes out so when lit I give it a good old blow to get a big bit glowing. To help prevent the rope going out I have punched loads of holes with a six inch nail so that the air can get into the side of the drum and the draught keeps the Rope glowing. None of the glowing bits of paper get out of the drum so there is no risk of fire. I also scuff away any loose leaves etc around this point to minimise the risk of fire even further. Sometimes I have linked to ropes together so that I don't have to go and put another banger string up if I'm going to be at this point for a long period of time
