Meganes stopped having turn keys in 2003, ones after this date need a fly wheel sensor (which I wouldn't recognise if it fell on me) if it's an older model it could be the throttle body housing needs a clean, again I wouldn't know where to look :)

just took it out and he said it well could be the fly wheel sensor, its a 1998 model.thanks

Had a very similar issue on a 2001 Scenic years ago (K4M 1.6L petrol). It was the crankshaft position sensor; they pick up small amounts of ferrous particles which in turn degrades the signal generated by the sensor (it's a VRS sensor and sensitive to contamination). This signal is essential to starting because, amongst other things, it is used for injector control. No crank signal = no start. Remove it (easy enough) and gently clean the end of it. You may well find it cures your problem.
