A bit odd.

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon shooting rooks on some stubbles where muck had been spread.

It was close enough to a big house for me to use my 20ga Hushpower and I was set up beside an old wagon, next to a rough hedgerow.

About an hour into the session I had shot 12 rooks and was going through a quiet spell, when a magpie came out of the hedge to my right and quartered across the field.

One shot took care of him and before I could open the gun, another magpie followed the same route, I shot that one also.

I had barely reloaded when another magpie appeared on the same line and I shot it, within a couple of seconds another one flew out.

It would be a better story if I had shot this one as well, but I missed it and stood with an empty gun and watched it fly away.

I have had two magpies close together before, but not multiple birds.

If I had killed the fourth bird, how many others would have appeared?

Missing that one must have broken the spell. :)
