Hatsan Escort Suprememax - Cartridge Jam

Hey Guy's,

Looking for some help / advice, I've recently purchased the above gun, but so far am suffering a cartridge jam 1 out of every 10 shot's, the shop I purchased the gun from suggested that I might need to try a few different cartridges before i found one the gun would cycle correctly.

I have only tried the cartridges that I already had that were bought a long, long time ago, and the gun jams with them, the shot fires OK and the spent cartridge is ejected fine, but the new round from the magazine kicks out slightly and causes the mechanism to lock up!

Is this a cartridge issue or other? and can anyone suggest a tried and tested fibre 28 gram cartridge for this gun?

The Cartridges I have are:

D&J 12g, Fibre, 28 gram, 7.5 shot, 67.5 mm Case Length

Thanks

Sounds more like a magazine latch problem and not cartridges

Firing a cartridge , any make , should not , as you put it, make a cartridge in the magazine kick out slightly

Check the nose tip of the latch for wear

There shouldn't be any wear in the latch the gun is a couple of weeks old having been bought brand new.

Its the brass end of the cartridge that is kicking out slightly and causing the jam.

We have been down this road many times..

If it 3.5" chamber don't expect to fire 21grm cartridges,For it was made to shoot very heavy loads.

If on the other hand you bought an Auto the takes 2:3/4" yes you can fire lighter loads..

Its all horses for courses,,The return spring is much Stronger in the 3.5" than the other chambers..

My Hatsan when I ha it never missed a Beat,,BUT,,it was for wildfowling..

If you want to shoot smaller loads,,I believe the importers actualy can supply a lighter spring to assist in that,,3.5" is NOT a Clay Weapon by any means..

My good old Beretta Xtrema fires clay loads all day long without fault. I believe all semis should be able to achieve this.

The information supplied with this gun states that it will cycle all 12G loads of 24g upwards.

There is no direct statement in the instructions stating cartridge size of 70mm + only, however when you look at the load size illustration on the box it only shows cartridges of 70mm and above.

I had a Browning Fusion a few years ago and that was so cartridge fussy so i decided to move it on back to the gun shop. My view is that all semi's should shoot all cartridges but in reality they don't. Now i own a Fabarm xlr and that will shoot any cartridge that is 70mm so I'm happy with this semi.
