'Proper' wildfowling guns

Speaking to an old gentleman on the mud this morning after flight I couldn't help but notice the huge lump of a gun he was lugging with him, a plain yet beautiful old 8bore!

I have always fancied an old proper fowling gun for my goose flighting, been saving for a while now, seperate savings account just for the right gun, hoping in the not too distant future I will be able to purchase one! The Mrs doesn't understand why I would want such a 'big beast', apparently the selection of 10s I have is enough but she will never quite 'get it'

Who has an 8 or 4?

Lets see some pics to get us mere mortals dreaming

Fandango has a very nice collection of big guns

Hi mark, hope your having a bountiful season,,,

I have a few old double 8s and a couple of 4s along with umpteen 10s, and some punt guns.

Just love taking them out and doing what there supposed to do,, they certainly come into there own at the back end of the season when the geese are a tad wiser.

Would love to put some photos up but can't seem to do it,,,,,,, will keep trying

Guest Derbyshire Dale.

I've got a bland single 4b coming up for sale if that interests you ?

I don't use it much , just for the odd flight on my holidays,it's far to heavy to carry about ,weighs over 20lb with a 46 inch barrel .

I did'nt think you'd part with the 4Bore Bob but i've got to agree about the weight issue. I think there was somebody called er...Dave Sheep or something simillar on the lookout for one like that?

Plenty of duck moving down the coast,, and I don't think we have had the main of the widgeon in yet,,, yep plenty pinks moving about,, our grey lags got hit hard early by a resident shooter,, as in he may as well have been living in the fields as he was on them every day decoying,, they have now moved and haven't seen them for a few weeks now,, pinks are building up on the solway, hopefully get under them soon.
