Potentially expensive whisky

Evening all, I'm sure there must be some whisky experts on here and I need some advice.

A friend recently cleared out his grandmothers cellar and gave me a few bottles to try, more to see if they were still drinkable! One of them was a bottle of Balvenie founders reserve, bottled in the 80s, in a cognac style bottle. After a bit of research, it would seem an unopened bottle is worth around £250-300. My bottle lable is mint, but has been opened at some point, without an appreciable amount being drunk.

Does it still have any value, purely because if it has I want to give it back!!

If it has been opened its value has decreased significantly and in consequence I doubt it would be of interest to collectors, It would also be difficult to sell to anyone other than a friend because of the possibility of adulteration, so sadly it's only worth what someone will pay for it!

So I think drinking it is the best answer!
