Looking to get a scope for a hatsan at44. I think im going for a nikko sterling mount master, im just unsure as to which one, the 3-9x50 or the 4-12×50. Will be mainly for pest control out to 35yrds. I just want the clearest/biggest picture possible. Never have been able to get my head around numbers....

Thanks

that depends what you think is important but i have found hawke scope lens ok and have a no quibble warranty, i have one on a .177 pcp and one on my cz455,

To be honest , both will out perform me probably ! I just dont want to buy twice. There is about £10 difference in price. No quibble warranty is a bonus though.

I didn't mention Hawkes because you appeared to have made the choice. I have six Hawkes on various rifles including their long eye relief illuminated reticule model on my 8x57 double rifle. I have had one where the reticule seemed to jump when I adjusted it. Still held zero but shipped it back to Deben and was surprised just how long I had been in possession and knew how much work it had done being banged about in the Land Rover and numerous overseas air trips. I find them all very good at the price and the air rifle models are all singing all dancing. Your choice. The reticules on my scopes stay focussed throughout the zoom range so cannot understand one comment regarding this. Either scope range will work fine. It is really then down to personal choice.

Thanks, it seems the Hawkes have a good following and a good reputation .
