Richie10
Hi, Usually use the Kicks Modified, have just picked up a full. Anyone used one and are the getting good patterns or are they really tight? Been using the kicks mod for 3 seasons, I would imagine it will have started to open up a bit. I use it all the time in the season. Thanks
m greeny
I use one in my extrema 2 and with eley lightening 1s at 45 yards averages 87% and gamebore mammoth 42g 1s at the same distance were 78%.
WelshAndy
Had one in modified and regret selling it! Have a muller UFO which is crazy tight!

figgy
I have had the full in my A300 extrema when i had it, found it too tight for where i shoot for nearly all my shooting, i would have a kicks mod in a heartbeat but not the full. But thats just me, pattern yours with your carts and see what you get. I have just tried a Carlson Cremator in my M2 on clays and the Mid Range is tight enough for what i want, i dont think the long range will get much use as with MR choke it was powdering clays at a good distance, steel patterns tighter again. How many shoot full choke at game or clays all the time? i dont and dont want that tight at wildfowl.
Rimfireboy
Are these chokes any good with lead or are they just for steel shot?
WelshAndy
I had very open patterns with my modified kicks when using lead, probably close to cylinder.
lister1
This is interesting. There is another thread on kicks high flyer mod. I've been looking at one I mod. I'm currently shooting with the 1/4 choke my sx3 came with.
ElvisThePelvis
Without wishing to hijack, are these chokes suitable for fibre wadded pigeon cartridges as well? I am keen to stick one choke in and leave it but i use the gun for both tasks, thanks.
WelshAndy
From what I've learnt recently stick the factory 1/2 choke and leave it there! It's more than enough for lead and steel.
figgy
Pattern what you have and see what you get with your carts, the Kicks modified is a great choke but mine was best in the SX3 it just worked no matter clay loads fiber or plastic. What did you learn recently? There is no way I would be happy to use a half choke for when the geese are 'up there a bit'.
m greeny
Whatever choke you get its important that you pattern it with the shells you intend to use
Highlandladdie
Would be interesting to find out if the full is actually a full. Etc etc. I have the mod and with lead it's very open.

I learnt that too much choke - for me doesn't work. Therefore I don't shoot 'up there' birds, I shoot within my range and half choke is that range. rookstorm
what you have to remember ,a kicks full choke steel is a half choke in lead ,a modified kicks steel choke is like improved cylinder lead, well open.

Best you get a Vernier and mic them up mate as it's as simple as that. Eg 1/2 in Invector plus is different to a Beretta Mobil. I bought some Extended Carlson Steel proofed chokes using simular advice to yours and Full was Full ( lead ) and 3/4 was 3/4 no different what's so ever
