I'm in the area and your best bet is to look at any rape you have permission on, the yearly migration that comes through every year hasn't on this occasion (1st time in the last 10yrs) so there isn't the numbers around like there usually is, you have just got to put the miles in and find them like I have.

For Englandshire boys:

From various shooting sources ; "As well as adhering to the seasons, game may not be taken on Sundays or Christmas Day."

Think the Game Act 1831, still stands and it says:

3. If any person whatsoever shall kill or take any game, or use any dog, gun, net, or other engine or instrument for the purpose of killing or taking any game, on a Sunday or Christmas Day, such person shall, on conviction thereof before two justices of the peace, forfeit and pay for every such offence such sum of money, not exceeding [ F3 level 1 on the standard scale] , as to the said justices shall seem meet, . . . F4:)

I personally not into all this game shooting thing and after being questioned I have since shown said game keeper that he put me on the wrong side of law as he did also himself. His answer was ohwell, ohwell I said in return to him get someone else to shoot ya crows! Yes I loose myself a permission to shoot upon but I have plenty of others! Thanks to all who have opened my eyes to the game scene especially the law side of it all. Lol funny really said game keeper rang my wife while I was at work, cant post here her reply to him as she was well lets say had a choice of words for him.

You should have just put it down to experience and moved on that way you would still be able to shoot there. You won't be the first to have done it or the last.

Was going to post that this qualifies as an increasingly rare commodity

B725 I would have put it down to being a lesson learnt but when I spoke to him about the shooting on a Sunday he suddenly got rather rude with bad language infront of my 5 year old daughter. This I do not tolerate at all and so I said my good byes.

but in view of this, I'll just comment, good for you.

It does seem a shame that through lack of experience that he was wrongly told to shoot what he did but it will happen again. When the defacation hits the ventilation all the keeper will do is tell the police that he never said anything of the sort.let's hope that other's who are unsure learn a little from this and carry enjoying their shooting. Well done for trying to put thing's right

Nice to see eastdevon wasn't pulled to bits , sound like a genuine mistake who was given wrong information by someone who should have known better .

There are a lot of good guys on here who will gladly give there time and knowledge to the next generation or even some of us older members who might need a little help on different subjects other than field sports.

Thanks to all and good luck for the remainder of the season .

Just use the BASC website... all the info you need

I would be unhappy with a FEO doing anything which is within his employment remit in exchange for goods and services....

I'll take a pm!

Its not a proper exchange as he is a good friend as well as being my neighbour, his wife just bought a spanking new car and he wants it proper gleaming for his daughters wedding this weekend, I used to be a full time sprucer so he knows it will get done properly!! Watched him clean it and he cant even use a pressure washer correctly lol

OK, so how would we stand if said Pheasant was/or looked wounded, i see plenty of pricked Birds when going around feeding on a Sunday. I know you can dispatch a wounded Deer by any means necessary so as to prevent suffering and it doesn't say Not on a Sunday, would the same not apply to a Pheasant? I know the Pheasant was just shot in this case, but you have me wondering.

As far as I can see (which doesn't help much) there doesn't appear to be any legislation for this so commonsense probably applies and be prepared to defend your action - unless you're in Scotland. Naturally, you had your gun for vermin control around the feeders.

Am I right in believing that there is a reason why the game seasons (where applicable) end on the 1st of the month?

I'd start with The Game Act 1831, still stands as far a I can tell in England😀 Edited by Brixsmaid
