Good sound moderators for FAC air?

Good day all, I'm considering going down the FAC air route and I'd be interested to know which sound moderators members with FAC air rifles would recommend. To be a bit more specific, my chosen calibre would be either .22 or .25 and the barrel would be screw-cut for a silencer. I would expect to be shooting at around 30ftlbs with a .22. In some ways I like the idea of using a barrel shroud, but I'm concerned about possible instability and lack of concentricity with the bore. I'm old-school and I generally prefer items that are user serviceable, and for which replacement parts are available. I look forward to hearing from experienced FAC air users.

Welcome to the group Cimic, Weihrauch moderators are good or you could try a SAK moderator. SAK are not expensive and are proofed for .22lr and 17HMR, more than enough for FAC air. I would also go along the screw cut route.

+1 on the SAK, I use one on the wolverine and would recommend.......

Just be aware that you legally can't just put any old sound mod on your FAC air rifle. It needs to go onto your ticket by an RFD if i remember correctly.

I'm not sure if they will do this for you, if you have bought it 2nd hand else where...

I think a SAK is only about £35 new. I would recommend buying from your local RFD and start building a rapport with them.

When you do apply for your FAC, you should apply for a sound mod at the same time.

I did a test 2 years ago with a good selection of silencers. We tested on an indoor range so noise would be clear to hear and the best was Hugget with a full shroud.....But its also the most expensive as well as IMO the most aesthetically pleasing.

Second was the A&M Twink which costs circa £40.

Third was the HW but the first two were clearly better and that was agreed by 5 us there.

Test Rifle was a .22 FAC running 30ftlb.

I invested in the Hugget with shroud and the A&M, but the A&M went on my sub 12ftlb HW100KT as I also added the A&M Cylinder.
