I sold a bsa r10 few years ago wish I had not .any way thinking about buying another one but wanting to eventually go for a fac air rifle can it b changed if I decide to do it want to get to at least 40 foot pounds another thing is I would not want to ruin my gun by doing this any body who could advice me would be greatfull

It needs to be done by an RFD and then it has to be registered as an FAC gun. It needs a complete overhaul inside. The regulator needs changing, as do the hammer spring and all the valves to cope with the tolerances of FAC power. There are a fair few people out there who specialise in BSA guns (Darrin at XTX-Air tuned my BSA R10 and did a super job), so it's pretty straightforward getting it done.

 

But don't.

 

The value of an FAC air rifle is nothing compared to a sub12 gun. It's rarely financially sensible to convert a sub12 gun up because of this. I'd by a new R10 and keep it sub12, then when you have got your FAC, look for a second gun that's already FAC to complement it. because of the low value of FAC guns, you can usually pick up a great bargain if you're prepared to wait
