I'd forgotten about your t&cs. Still, a few hours squirrel shooting with all the hard work done for you isn't bad at all. From an efficiency point of view they would be better having permanent traps set up above the feeders. But don't tell them that ;)

Traps have been tried but the area is public woodland and complaints about traps and stolen traps were a major problem. This years report has mentioned a tunnel type trap that is placed quite high up a tree and well out of reach of the ground, details are sketchy but it seems to be some kind of vertical tunnel that decapitates the squirrel when it goes inside :sad1:

Sounds like a body grip type trap. They don't decapitate but kill the squirrel no matter which way it enters the trap tunnel. We used to put them up above the feeders, smear Nutella around the entrance and service the traps whenever we topped up the feeders using a telescopic ladder.

I'd be a bit concerned about shooting in public woodland even with all the safeguards put in place by your organisers. But you seem to be getting good results so well done!
