mick miller
Well, it does seem steep for 17hmr CARTRIDGES. I thought the average price was somewhere between £14-£16 per box of 50. Mind you, a lot of people have leapt onto the Brexit and exchange rate bandwagon, citing the depreciating pound as justification for increased prices on items that have to be sourced from the US. I had just that conversation with a local RFD regarding price increases, when the stated everything had to go up because of the weaker pound I pointed out that they already had the items on the shelf and therefore, presumably, had stocked them when priced at the old exchange rate. masmiffy
Seems very steep to me! Wonder how long before the hmr rabbit brigade go back to the good old 22 rimfire? I still think it's a great round for the job and so much quieter! My shooting mate hates it and refers to it as a 'pop gun' I can't get thro to him about using a mil dot scope on it and 'using the dots' He wants to point and shoot everything
telf
i personally think that will be the standard when the ammo eventually finds its way here

Luckyshot
So how much do they charge you for 50 then as your price seems an odd number for 4 boxes.

I have land where using the 22 would be irresponsible. I use both my 22 and my 17 and both are very effective. 72£ for 200 is a bit mad. £18 for 50.. Hoping my shop dont do that to me. Dave-G
It could be a case of manufactures, importers and retailers dumping HMR round supply rather than having to keep taking profit losses to replace split cases from their other stock which they then cannot make a profit on, then the prices are likely to escalate until they are all gone. Same as any product that has an issue, if it costs too much loss of profit it will be discontinued.

rbrowning2
For a while their will be quite a variation in prices for the same ammo depending on when the shop last got stock. Both the fall in the value of the pound and the increase in transport costs since TNT stopped delivering for the gun trade. Section 5 expanding ammo is currently expensive to move around by haulage firms hopefully when it reverts back to section 1 later this year that will help. My local was £12.50 for 50 Hornady now they say their is none to be had and cci is £17.50 for 50 but a box will last me awhile few rabbits about on my permissions so a fiver extra is not a big issue. I guess we are all going to have to get use to higher prices like it or not, unless trump causes a fall in the dollar.

Michael Scotland
That's like saying you are not bothered about the price of petrol because you don't drive very far ?

rbrowning2
You are correct petrol is going up on the bbc new website now, not a case of don't care but nothing I can alter so why raise your blood pressure over events you cannot alter, petrol is essential , 50 hmr rounds are for a hobby can take it or leave it if had to, so a fiver extra to continue my hobby i think worth paying. with the almost daily fluctuations on the value of the pound and lots of reasons for that to continue I think we are only at the start of an interesting year ahead with prices which could be either way. Michael Scotland
Of coarse you are apselutly right but my point was that you thought it doesn't affect you because you only buy bullet's but don't shoot a lot of them
