Didnt get out for the usual New Years day walk with Mac and the old fella but with the forecast fine and crisp for today we held away just the back of 0900.

Minus 2 and with near zero wind it wasnt ideal for the pigeons so just went for a walk.Once again the pigeons were in huge numbers and got a few chaps at them as they were using the stibble.

Walk lasted 4 hours and we ended up with 7 pheasants,10 pigeons and a partridge.

Then held away to try for a woodcock at the MILs,and when we walked round the pond Jake found a winged mallard that we couldnt fine 2 nights ago which was a bonus.Rose 3 woodcock and downed 2 and was very happy with that.

Finished off with another pond and after a decent flight we had 6 mallard and a teal down.

Another top day with good company and a fine bag.

A great day oot Dave.

I was driving round a few fields today try to work out where the pheasants were mooching about and there were hundreds, if not thousands, of pigeons all over the winter rape. A cloud of them just like in your photos.

If we get a wee wind next week then may see if I can have a good crack at them. Too calm today as they just lifted off and went to neighbouring fields.

You are certainly living the life that a lot of us would aspire to and its great that he's still fit enough to get out with his lad, great pictures as ever and yes I am envious of all those pigeons you have up there at the minute, have you had any good days decoying them? look forward to your next outing and some more great pictures.

Cheers for all the comments fellas.

Pigeon numbers here the now are huge and have only this last week or so seen them starting on the rape and more so with this wee spell of harder weather. Most of the ones yesterday had rape in the crop but not a lot else for them with the snow.

Winds have been strong for a while now so helps with the shooting.
