Yukon photons

I've got one and it's a great little bit of kit. Are there better out there? Yes. But the better ones are are at least double the price.

Could you make a better DIY add on? Yes and for about 1/2 the price but you have to actually sit down and make it.

People can be very scathing about the yukon photons but I was watching a fox at 175yds with the inbuilt ir. In a similar vain as the Lee Loader that people will run down all the time, there is better kit out there but it costs much more money. For nv on a budget I'm very impressed with my yukon.

I've got the 6.5 x 50 on top of my Rem 700 .222. With added ir (t20 and doubler) can quite easily watch a fox at 200/250yds.

Have shot about 40 off a scaffold tower on a free range unit, but as they come to me I tend to shoot them at a 100yd ish, no point in making the shot any harder/farther than needed.

They can take a bit of getting used to, and can be a little digitally grainy, but for the money are cracking bits of kit, and I've had lots of lamp educated fox's with mine.

Tip:- using added ir drastically increases battery life in the photon, on board ir eats the life out of your two double A's

Surely u still have to turn the unit on though, so the onboard ir is in use?? Or am i wrong (high chance I am)

Yes but the double A's are only running the photon and not the ir. makes a huge amount of difference on the life of the batteries in the unit.

Oh, Sorry I didn't say not to use the on board ir at all as there are 3 settings.

me and pal both have photon xt and yes there not top end but weve shot hundreds of rabbits and loads of foxes at all ranges the furthest 250yds but you need good ir to achieve long range shots we both use nm800 ir and makes things alot clearer
