Any recommendations for training a gundog either books or dvds

Plenty of time for that. You only want to be doing a bit of leash training to stop any pulling, and basic recall in the first 6 months or so. If you do got for a non gun dog breed then make the play a find and fetch activity. But nothing too demanding for the first few months.

Andy the breed is a war zone conversation at ours lol, the wife wants border collie which don't get me wrong are lovely dogs but I want a lab . So I'm creeping like mad will let u know who wins

Get the lab mate, they are part trained from birth and easy to train, first 6 months is crucial as is patience and consistency.

Good luck :good:

There is little difference on a day to day basis between owning collies and springers in my experience. They both have similar needs and wants and are roughly the same size and weight. A lab is a different animal in many ways and not something I've ever taken to. Each to their own. For what you want;- picking up from a hide or flighting / roost shooting a collie or springer would be fine.
