Whilst doing my rounds scouting for some birds i had been keeping my eye on a splash that gets an odd greylag and canada on it at the end of the season and to my suprise on the 30th there was 20 odd greylag come in to roost so a quick phone call to my mate (the goose deterrant) and the plan was set. We met at 5 and after a 2 minute walk were in position, me at one end and he the other. It just got to that point where the light has faded and and you think any second now and right on que i could see 2 big shapes coming towards the splash about 25yards up and then boom one shot rang out followed by a big thud and a greylag was soon brought to hand. No more birds came apart from a teal that was to quick but we were not bothered as a shot is always a bonus and to end the season with a bird for the table is even better as I get just as much pleasure from others bagging birds as I do shooting them myself.
