Radio Reception in the 'Fender

Okay, this has driven me potty since I replaced the original bent aerial and decrepit LR stereo out of the landy. Maybe some of you folks have some suggestions. Oh, and my Defender is completely soundproofed so, yes, I can actually hear the stereo over the noise of the engine and whine of the transmission.

• I have replaced the stereo with a Sony CD. I have replaced the old metal aerial (twice) with a bendy rubber thing, it's ****, reception is rubbish with it.

• In addition to the rubbish reception it also picks up interference from the wipers, phone chargers, heater, you name it...

So...

1. how do I fix this?

2. Is it, seeing as FM is going to die soon, go digital?

3. Any recommendations for a digital, bash-proof aerial?

4. How do I suppress the interference?

This may be the way forward, I never listen to cds so a Dab, plus booster, plus filter (ta Dayvo)... all I need is a decent, branch-proof, wound, whippy aerial... link to the digital booster please?

If you try and look on some of the dab forums, you can get dab kits ( basically the bees sting/roof mount, cables ect).that hook up with dab radios (that's if you buy a dab head unit)

Other than that you can keep your old antenna to listen to ordinary FM,as the dab adaptors have an antenna that fits inside the front screen (near side pillar)

CD's are out mate, most of the units today done have the slot, makes the Less deeper so plenty of room for cables ect.Everyone just puts their music on sticks now or on their phones or tablets and just bluetooth to the head unit.

They never, ever work... I bought an inline filter and a genuine Landy aerial (the pull up type). I give the aerial less than 6 months to live as I will, inevitably, forget I left it up as I clatter past trees on a field margin.

In six months I'll post back for suggestions for a tree proof aerial that provides reception again (or go screen mounted).

Crackle gone, reception miles better - although I get interference when I plug the phone charger (and phone) into the 12v socket, that suggests to me radiated interference from the 12v to USB charger, so, I'll bung a filter on that too supply too.

might not do anything if it's radiating from the cable/electronics
