12 Bore, 65mm, Fibre, 30g, 2.5mm (UK 6.5) Shot

Gotcha! I think Eley are planning to phase out the Eley Pigeon 67mm 32g 6.5 shot in favour of the new range Eley Select which is in No 6 only. The Select is loaded in a 70mm case to attract the S/A shooter.

I've tried the Select and it isn't anywhere near the cartridge of the old range! No bigger fools than a Spanish owned company.

You can still get the HP (HV) Pigeon from Just Cartridges. http://www.justcartridges.com/images/pdfs/EL.pdf?date=2017-02-16

Price is big. I bought 5K about four year ago at £190 a thou'. Only 2 slabs left now.

This change doesn't make sense to me - other than perhaps giving the option of a 70mm chamber length. Still, I suppose they've done a review and have concluded that (excluding the self loader element) that the 2.5mm load has no place on the biggest UK quarry shooting species list. My RFD was not quite so confident as Eley was yesterday about their on going availability when I rang to order some. He's only got a few plastic in stock which I can't use and was just about to place an order with Eley today so we'll see.

Please don't shoot the messenger if I'm wrong, but if anyone (there just has to be) else uses and likes them, I would suggest that a wise move would be to get some stocked up ASAP. Or wait until one of their competitors that already load 2.5mm in their own range spot the gap in the market. Mind you, they'd just have to ensure that their fibre wads seal in a back-bored barrel which of course the vast majority do.
