Lincolnshire FAC/Shotgun Change of Adress Wait!!!!

Evening All

I moved from Cambridgeshire to Lincolnshire and needed to change the address on my certificates and constabulary. Both were renewed 4 weeks prior and took two weeks from start to finish so I started the process nice and early and gave Lincolnshire a heads up before I moved in to my new place. The FAO arrived after 4 weeks of waiting and he inspected the cabinet and went through as if I was renewing my certificates, it took forever and had to supply all of my permissions again. He then took both away with him and said it should be a couple of weeks for the new ones to come through, so I wasn't bothered about not having the originals.

After nearly 5 months of waiting, three phone calls and emails I still haven't got my certificates through, I cannot buy ammo or Carts and is turning out to be a right pain in the **** All I needed was a simple transfer and address change, has anyone else had any experience or advice on how to speed things up. I'm due to move again in 3 moths and at this rate I will never get them.

Thanks

I would think that if this were another public service such as passports or driving licenses, some politician eager to score brownie points, would come along and pronounce it not fit for purpose, but it's regarding shooters and firearms and therefore quite likely political suicide.

I could suggest you contact your shooting organisation  but regardless of what they all claim ( there is an ad' for one at the head of this page ) none of them can do anything.

If your licenses expire before you get them back, and you receive no S7, you could always contact the media and inform them that due to police firearms licensing incompetence, you are in illegal possession of your own firearms; the media would love that.

It took them two months to ring me when i moved into Lincolnshire and another month before they checked cabinet! Waiting on my renewal now, SGC runs out on 20th and they can't tell me whether i'll have my new licence in time!

Crikey, I bet their's a few more as well! They need some reorganising and more staff by the sounds of things.

we got a new police commissioner last year,in his campaign speech he declared he would make firearms a priority and get it on track, also he said he would get rid of g4s as he thought they were not fit for purpose, well within a few weeks of his term g4s were found to be falsifying figures to make them look as if they were doing a good job,or commiting fraud if it were you or i doing it.yet they are still in place, times are not improving but he found time to give one of his mates the job as his deputy.

ring up the switchboard and ask how you go about putting in a formal complaint. you might even get to talk to a person. but insist that you want to put in a formal complaint. it might act like dyno rod. they dont like it up em. we are all too weak and feeble and frightened of our own shaddow.

I will add just to be fair.on my renewal last year it only took six weeks. I had my new certificate just under nine weeks before the old one ran out.i suppose there are times when factors we don't know about come into it.but nobody should ever be left in a position of holding firearms illegally.

Well after sending my renewal forms in 13 weeks ago, i received a temporary permit in the post today ( the day my current licence runs out! ).

What strikes me is that the temporary licence is near identical to a normal one, just it's only valid for 3 months. I wonder if my new certificate will start when the temporary permit runs out for from when the original run out ( I applied for FAC at the same time )
