Video help

I'm thinking of starting to make some youtube vids of the outdoor stuff that I find myself getting up to, both work related and fun and games as well. I'd like to keep it pretty varied, so stuff on shooting, fishing and wildlife stuff too. I'm a bit new to it all, so I was hoping that you guys might have some helpful advice on any of the following questions:

  • What sort of vid camera is it worth getting? Do I need to spend a fortune, or are there reasonable entry level options (It MUST have a reasonable resistance to water, or else it's gonna have problems when introduced to the yak!)
  • Any recommendation for editing software? will it come with whatever camera i get, or will I need to get a separate programme?
  • what kind of attachments are worth getting for said camera that make filming easier to watch for any potential viewers? I'm not too worried about the yak set up, as I know how that could work, but what about gun rigs? is there any easy way of getting binoculars rigged up to a video camera?

Any other help would be great. The talking and presenting should be fine it's more the technical advice I'd appreciate.

Many thanks
