My old Packard Bell Spirit Pentium 4 is getting a bit slow & unstable!!! - I am looking to replace it soon ! What would the best processor be to go for (without getting outrageous £££) I was thinking of Intel Dual Core (but are these different speeds???) & also a similar spec laptop ! (for her indoors)

I was going to get them from a major PC outlet (PC world/currys etc) or Dell  (or maybe get an independant shop to build one) Not too keen on ebuyer etc or online scammers :hmm:

Any sensible advice would be appreciated :good:

Was in PC world yesterday, only whilst waiting for the mrs to pick me up from the Airport and they have some very very good offers on.

I was looking at the Micro PCs, they may not be the most powerful but for £450 you cant complain, and the base unit is the size of a small shoe box.

If you are looking at PC world, use the web the prices are better and you can pick up in store, and dont take the extended warranty........

PC world and Dell etc maybe the cheapest, but if you get any problems, in my experience, they do not want to know. having had two defective PC's in the last three years from big makers and loads of grief. I bought my last one from a local shop that build their own (Compusense-UK Ltd of Clacton), I've had a couple of problems, just drive over to them, drop off PC, pick it up the following day, no charge, service as it should be.
