  1. And this is how we are supposed to rebuild the economy ???? Its going to be very difficult unless someone can possibly make a stand to turn this all around and frankly I can't see how anyone could even make a start to do so with the odds being stacked against them, it's far too easy for the employee to claim that they are "being victimised" " or "being disadvantaged" . Once the floodgates were opened on employees being able to continue to work from home and dictate working hours, then the die was cast and its going to take some serious sorting out. I feel that nothing less than major restructuring of businesses where bosses will be seen as tyrants will eventually occur, and will have to, if business are to save going under. sort the wheat out from the chaff and find the employees that are willing to work for the good of all concerned. Just to add, I accept that not all "working from home" situations are inefficient or being taken advantage of.
  2. Again it's not just the Civil Service Vince, employees now have the right to request a change in working hours etc. to suit their commitments and that includes working from home, very difficult to argue against from a management point of view with them having done so throughout the pandemic, its an absolute nightmare at trying to run any kind of business or organisation and glad I don't have to deal with such anymore having recently jumped ship and retired.
  3. It's not just restricted to the Civil Service I'm afraid, it's widespread throughout all areas of employment, unfortunately there are a huge amount of people out there that seriously think life, and the employer, owes them a living for very little return and whilst actually being employed will not step up to the mark and uphold their end of the bargain that they entered into. How many times have you interviewed a prospective employee, set them on with a contract which clearly outlines their duties and responsibilities only to find out 6 months later down the line that they are a totally different person to the one that was sat in the chair opposite you only just a short while ago. Those employers or managers that hold high standards and are "Firm but Fair" and as I was oft described, are also I am afraid, often deliberately misconstrued as being bullies by those that want to use such a tool in their box to bring them down. The system and the namby-pamby state of society we find ourselves in is now well and truly stacked against those innocents attempting to defend themselves and their position as I think may well be the case here as its all too easy to sling mud around, cleaning it off takes a little more doing. just my ten pence worth

    ANNIVERSARY

Well done to the pair of you, I'll bet there have been trials and tribulations during those years together, myself and good lady are on 44 to date with no chance of catching that great score up. Hope you are having a good old knees up to celebrate
  5. Anybody seen NoBodyImportant today ? 😮
  6. As in the title gents if anyone has any .223 kit lying around not being used
  7. I look forward to the results, if you're not back on the forum by this time tomorrow we'll suspect that you may not have remaining digits with which to type with 🙂 Joking apart though, there are a lot of "recommendations" of what to do and what not to do regards interchanging primers and which makes some interesting reading, I've been trying to find out what the actual cup thickness is of WSP primers are, there are also differing material hardness's and some reading suggests Winchester are harder than some others so will be interesting to see how you get on. Will you be reloading .223
  8. Nah , think he was just your typical sales/demonstration type guy
  9. Saw a guy in Wickes a short while ago demonstrating a sealer from a mastic gun that was sealing containers of water that he cut/slashed with a Stanley knife so they leaked, applied this externally whilst water leaking out and it sealed no problem, for a change I was quite impressed with the product. Just had a look and pretty sure its called OB1
  10. Hornady Pacific Beam Scales Excellent condition £60 posted recorded delivery
  11. Interestingly found the below info on Remington primers With Remington small rifle primers, the 6 ½ primer has a thin cup and is not recommended for higher pressure rounds like the common .223 Remington. It was intended for the .22 Hornet. When Remington introduced their .17 Remington round in 1971 they found that the 6 ½ primer was not suitable to the high-pressure .17. The 7 ½ BR primer was developed for this reason. According to Remington, the 7 ½ has a 25% greater cup thickness and they state on their web site: "In rifle cartridges, the 6-1/2 small rifle primer should not be used in the 17 Remington, 222 Remington or the 223 Remington. The 7-1/2 BR is the proper small rifle primer for these rounds."
  12. I used these when reloading .357 magnum rounds many years ago and at first thought they may also possibly be OK for .223, Out of interest I need to go in the loft and dig out my old loading manual and see if I can find out what the loads and pressures were back then.
  13. Morning all I have a box of 900 Winchester Small Pistol Primers that have been dry stored in the gun safe since I used to reload hand guns many years ago and which are now surplus to requirements as can't see me ever me using them. Assuming these are still OK to use, which I am confident they are as they have been stored correctly over that time, where would be the best place to move them on. Just about to start reloading .223 so looking for small rifle primers in their place
  14. Going through one of my many cupboards I have found 100 x 9mm primed brass and 100 x 125gn LRN bullets from back when I used to reload handgun rounds. does anyone still shoot/reload 9mm anymore
  15. .223 Lee Classic Loader Wanted
  16. Absolutely brilliant from every aspect, well done Nicolle and well done Field Sports Channel for airing what maybe classed as highly controversial but just goes to show it doesn't always have to be.

Have done 99% of my own repairs for the last 50yrs or so, and still do, but really can't be ***** with the jobs that turn out to be marathons as this appears to be looking at procedure on good old Utube cheers as usual

  19. Take some proper financial advice from a proper FSA approved financial advisor, this will be one of, if not the most important decision, you will be making that will define your income for the rest of your life. As a working guy on the tools for most of my career I never thought I would need a financial advisor as I have always looked after my own finances all of my working life but 10 years ago I took advice from a good friend and got in touch with one, 10 years later my plans have come together, I retired last year 3 years earlier than when my state pension will kick in when I hit 66. I'm not saying this was all down to the services of a financial advisor but it certainly helped, and still helps, and it saves me/makes me more than the costs of his fees. Every now and then we need pointing in the right direction and none more so such as now when it comes to this stage in life with regards to pensions and deciding which is the right choice to make, this can be a nightmare with constantly changing markets and requires serious consideration. I believe you can get advice on a one off basis if not wanting to retain the services of an advisor long term. I steered away from indemnities as once the decision is made there is no turning back, that said I understand they are making a comeback due to current market but at the end of the day I listen to a guy who I pay to advise and then make the decision, he knows about money whereas I know about nuts and bolts (or used to). Spend a few quid, get some advice, get the facts, when armed with the options you can then make an informed decision. Hope that helps as my head was a shed regards pensions for years.
