  1. Cheap PCP set up for ratting wanted, must be multishot and preferably with Pard 007 and pump for filling please PM
  2. A long reach telescopic gauge would be a nice edition to the toolkit but as mentioned patterning is the practical way to go and all part of the fun with regards to keeping the old guns up and running. I only plan on using this with light loads and obviously at shorter ranges with having little or no choke,
  3. That and a combination of busy day brain fade and topped off with a cider or two
  4. Cheers Topgun, got the numbers completely wrong with earlier post, no idea why my brain figured there was a 0.5 mm difference between 18.4mm and 18.5mm and not .1mm
  5. Evening All looking to identify the chokes on this 12g Belgian Guild Boxlock which if I am correct and from its makers marks is a 1938 SBS Am I correct in assuming that both the bores started out as 18.4mm with the "18.5mm CHOKE" marking indicating a 0.5mm- 1/2 choke on that particular barrel and the other remaining as Cylinder choke
  6. Just reading a 2016 Gun Mart review on the MK38 Trap where author states :- "that Miroku are one of the very few firms that individually regulate each gun in time honoured fashion at the plates" and which might explain things with regards to why this Miroku's choke restrictions do not follow the set and specific .010" choke increments. If they sort each barrel choke to pattern correctly at manufacture then bobs your uncle, job done
  7. Just spent the afternoon measuring the business end of 3 x 12g guns with digital calipers and comparing readings against bore dimensions stamped on their barrels for a rough estimate of constrictions and for comparison to the choke markings on the guns. Browning and Baikal measure as expected The Miroku, marked as being 3/4 choke in top barrel is only .023" down on the .729" barrel with a measurement of .706" putting it closer to being a 1/2 choke (.020" restriction) than the indicated 3/4 choke (.030" restriction) on that barrel. Bottom barrel (stamped as being 1/4 choke) shows .014" constriction from .729" bore and which falls between 1/4 (.010" restriction) and 1/2 (.020 restriction) Wondering now if this is a "Miroku" thing with chokes being slightly differently sized to that indicated
  8. Cheers LB, picked up on the odd post on here which gives me more confidence that 3/4 and std steel should be OK, PW member reindeer from Netherlands posted back in 2020 that he has put thousands of Gamebore 32g No4 through his Miroku 6000 1/4 -3/4 without issue.
  9. Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere but I can't find up to date definitive answers There's lots of contradictory info on various forums and that has been posted on the internet over last ten years and more as to what the maximum choke size is "safe"/"OK" for steel shot and fixed choke guns along with recommendations and guidelines from cartridge and gun manufactures stating nothing tighter than 1/2 choke should be used and which covers them from a liability point of view. Presuming that steel shot cartridge manufacturing and the like has progressed over the years along with steel shot having been used by shooters for a considerable number of years also, are there any members on here who have actually used steel shot consistently over the years through fixed chokes tighter than 1/2 and without any detrimental results in their 70's and 80's fixed choke shotguns. Two out of three of my older guns are 1/4 and 1/2 so OK for standard steel but looking for clarification on tighter chokes such as 3/4 as I have a 80's Miroku I would like to make use of with steel.
  10. Fried Mash in our house, straight into the pan and no additional flour though .....
  11. Protest by all means within our free country, but in a correct and orderly manner, as soon as any object is used as a missile then boundaries are overstepped, some might say that they were only eggs thrown but what if one hit home and landed on target and someone lost an eye ? what would be the general consensus of opinion as to what the punishment should be in a case such as that. This young idiot needs a quick lesson and awakening as to the consequences of his actions, a brief spell in detention along with a criminal record and also a thought as to how his future job prospects might now look ...... that's if he isn't already a poor little rich kid without any of the above to be concerned about and plans to go through life on the chosen path of professional activist without having to live the normal day to day lives like the majority of us law abiding citizens.... total and utter ####
  12. Can you let me know what brand and style these are please (not looking for skinny leg/slim fit ones)

  13. Used Doff weevil killer 20 years ago with great success after a serious invasion and before starlings made a comeback, had an instance where they were exiting one lawn and spread across the driveway literally in their hundreds if not thousands like something from a horror movie, product no longer available as contained Lindane chemical, still have a batch of 12 which have been in garage since 2002 just prior to being withdrawn from sale and not had to use it since. used the Doff on Leather jackets as per OP original posting

  15. Now sorted, New replacement spring sourced from Hardy & Brown Sheffield, excellent service and got to be one of the best and friendliest gun shops I have visited for some time
  16. As in the title gents, the search starts here...... The safety/selector spring on my 1973 Browning Liege has a broken leg and needs replacing, this spring is the same as on the B27 but not sure if same is fitted to any other models of Browning 12g O/U of same or similar vintage Had an issue with the safety not releasing correctly on a drive this weekend and discovered the broken spring being the culprit having just stripped action for inspection. Can't complain considering its coming up to 50 years old but if the remaining leg goes it will be totally out of action, which would be a shame as its a cracking old gun.

    Central heating

+1 for the Magnatech filter system with cleaner and protectant, fitted one two years ago and thoroughly cleaned the system and radiators out one by one, filter checked and cleaned every couple of weeks during first few months after initial fitting to see water getting clearer and clearer as debris was collected by the magnets and after short period of time water from bleeding rads was clear. Will check filter again this year when central heating is eventually fired up. With regards to above post suggesting clear water would indicate a leak, I would have thought it would have to be a pretty bad leak to completely clear the system of black water held throughout the system and also at a lowest level
  18. As in the title gents if anyone has one available, please PM
  19. Might be a "time out" thing, I have had this several times on various forums when taking too much time putting something together prior to posting
  20. thanks for the input but not looking to spend £48 when it only needs something to suit a 6mm "D" shaft, fashioned one earlier as could only find the thumb levers/ deadbolt latch available in the US at around $15 and same for shipping.....
  21. that's what I though initially but not enough shaft protruding or clearance, looking online it looks to be an "L" shaped plastic push on lever need to strip it tomorrow to identify manufacturer, saw some makers marks last time I had one in bits
  22. Evening all can anyone enlighten me and point me in the direction of what I need to make use of the internal locking mechanism on this caravan/camper door lock so as to be able to lock from inside, the small "D" shaped spindle rotates approx 90 degrees from opened to locked which operates a small dead bolt, but not much clearance between it and the pull handle to open the door, might have to make something if not readily available. thanks in advance
  23. If anyone has one of the above in a cupboard not doing anything, Already using one of these which I'm happy with and looking for second one for shoot vehicle
