  1. I cannot believe that with 369 views there has not been a spark of interest in my gun despite being about £300 pounds cheaper than any other 16g Prestige advertised elsewhere. Anyone interested if I include the RFD to RFD cost ? OB
  2. Come to think of it, he did mention that one.
  3. Tightchoke told me in confidence that his absolute favourites were `The Birdy Song` and Des O`Connor`s `Dicka Dum Dum`. They must have totally slipped his mind . OB
  4. OF, Regarding Charlotte's non use of spell check, you missed out -: 'too high' not 'to high' and 'greatly' not 'grately' I assume that schools no longer teach spelling within the GCSE curriculum . OB 'The Pedant'.
  5. Even when the rape stubble has been lightly cultivated (disced) it can still provide some good shooting, so well worth watching as the pigeons can still find the seed. However, as MM said, once the old seed start sprouting (volunteer rape) it very rarely attracts the pigeons. OB
  6. It`s the Commander seat for me every time, provided that I can drive to the hide position. OB
  7. I`m with you on this Scully, although I do have a Lincoln Prestige with a gold trigger. Much prefer my 20g Macnab Highlander without any gold bling whatsoever. Understated and elegant. OB
  8. OK, thanks for that. OB
  9. As we're on the subject of the Welsh language, could anyone please put me right in the translation of a house I once lived in called 'Bryn Glas'. I was told that it meant 'Blue Mountain' which seemed fairly logical. Was this correct ? Thanks for any replies. OB
  10. Good post OF. Yet to receive any response from Charlotte !! OB
  11. As requested by others, could you please tell us your motive or reason behind this, your first post. OB
  12. Someone`s going to get an absolute bargain there. Lovely gun. Good luck with the sale. OB
  13. I agree, early morning is the best time to pick fresh. Not only that, get them before someone else does. OB
  14. Always knew the one with the marlin spike (for splicing rope, or getting scouts out of horses hooves 😀) referred to as a jack knife. Maybe wrong though. OB
  15. Welcome to the forum. You are now among like minded folk, many of whom are, like you and I, beyond their three score years and ten. Tightchoke will be along shortly no doubt with -: ‘You speak for yourself Old Boggy’ or words to that effect, so expect some well meaning banter on here Kevin.
  16. I splashed out my hard earned pension on a Commander seat a few months ago after selling a Bergara seat. Like many others who suffer from an aching back after sitting for a few hours in the hide, I needed a backrest. The Bergara was OK, reasonably light to carry, took a time to put together and take apart, but was not too comfortable. I used the padded top from a revolving drum seat to gain a bit more padding. However, for some reason, the Bergara did not completely alleviate an aching back at the end of my short sessions. The Commander seat in contrast is much more flexible with the seat and back rest height and also the backrest depth adjustable. This has now completely solved the aching back problem. The seat is great in that it can be left assembled at the correct height etc and the legs just fold out for instant use. All very good and convenient when being able to drive to the hide position but very heavy to carry along with all the other stuff we need, so left at home when having to walk a fair distance to the hide. Like Marshman, I do have an old office chair left in a permanent hide position and a couple of light fold up jobbies when walking distances, but have yet to find a light enough seat, with a backrest, so the one indicated above by B725 would appear to cover all eventualities. OB
  17. That is a most generous offer and for a very worthwhile cause. There really are some good folk on PW. Very well done Alan123. OB
  18. And me .............. anyone else out there ? Surely we can make a quorum who agrees, at least OB
  19. There are about 8 secondhand 28g Premier Gold ones on Guntrader.
  20. Always look on the bright side of life .... da dum da dum
  21. I`m with you on this MM. Our days of travelling abroad are over and we find that there are plenty of lovely places yet to visit in the UK. As well of course of those we visit quite frequently in different counties. However, later in the year, I`m taking the wife on a cruise to a tropical island. Yes, you`ve guessed it, the ferry over to the Isle of Wight. My God, I spoil that woman. Might even bump into Old Farrier. OB
  22. The fact that you say a few fields will be OSR may mean that any birds in the area will be concentrated on those few fields later on. This could prove beneficial and a little easier to come to terms with rather than a large acreage where they can feed anywhere over it. Look at it as a positive. OB
  23. Another for Musto. Have had one of their jackets for over 20 years, bought for about eighty pounds and still gking strong. Musto did replace the collar once for a very nominal charge. Also got a lightweight Musto (foldaway) which is good for normal lighter wear. It's a bit expensive for what it is, but as it was a freebie from one of the shooting magazines I have no complaints whatsoever. Would definitely buy Musto again if the need arose. I also have a Deerhunter shooting jacket which is OK but find it a bit heavy. All the above, however with the new waterproof fabrics knock spots off the old waxed jackets. OB
  24. Thanks for your reports so far this year and enjoy your well deserved break. Safe journey there and back. Yamas OB
