  1. Paul, You obviously haven`t read and fully digested HantsRob`s detailed and informative reply.
  2. I feel for Alan as Topgun749 says, he is a very nice and genuine guy to deal with. I sincerely hope that the perpetrator does the honourable thing and that he gets his bore micrometer back. OB
  3. Have you tried using either a cushion or the padded revolving top of a drum seat which fits perfectly on a Begara and provides far more comfort. Might be worth a try before spending £125. Just a thought !
  4. You`re right TC, they are............. Methinks that the OP has posted a side by side picture by mistake.
  5. Thanks for that old`un, I will try that now. I use the compass once I`ve checked the weather forecast (Met office I find best) to find out wind strength and direction, to then decide which wood, or side thereof I intend shooting, or when decoying, what`s the best position of my known fields and flightlines. If that all makes sense. OB
  6. The above appears to have changed its format. With the original format I could zoom in on where I propose to go shooting and with knowledge of the wind direction, could decide my best options. The compass to the right hand side is no longer there. Also there was a tab at the top which I could determine distance from one point to another. I`ve tried different layers etc. but to no avail. Is there anyone more knowledgeable than me (that doesn`t take a lot, admittedly !) who could advise, in simple terminology please. TIA OB
  7. See what you did there. AKA Paul Henson.
  8. Blimey, you`ve certainly got to be quick to beat Tightchoke to a bargain
  9. A very detailed and interesting account of your time out. Many thanks for taking the time to type out and post. Keep them coming as many of us thoroughly enjoy your posts. OB
  10. Normally it`s preferable to have the seat so that your knees are below your waist (if that makes sense) so that it`s far easier to stand to take the shot. However, if you propose to shoot sitting down, then I suppose it could be OK. Just my take on it but without any knowledge of the actual seat shown. OB
  11. Up for sale as now surplus to my requirements is this Seeland `Leg-O-Mutton` gunslip. This is in new condition having been bought on a whim and has only been used once. It easily takes 28 inch barrels (29 inch at a push) and is well padded. I believe that they retail around £55. Selling for £35 collected (Kent) or £38 posted. Thanks for looking.

    Scammer?

He’s obviously a scammer. Perhaps the mods could ban him immediately before someone falls for his scams. OB
  13. I do love these `Do you know what this is?` threads. As always, there`s at least one knowledgeable person on PW who knows exactly what things are for and do. Keep them coming OB

    Scammer?

He joined an hour ago !!
  15. Totally agree. Thanks for posting JDog
  16. I totally agree with this sentiment. Our last holiday abroad over 10 years ago now involved flying from Gatwick Airport and after that horrendous experience, vowed never to repeat it. Our best experience was when Manston airport was running with flights to Schiphol in the Netherlands. From landing back to Manston, it took just 15 minutes to get back home !! There are many lovely places in the UK to visit, the need, or wish, to fly again is certainly not on my list. OB
  17. I am the purchaser of Dogger`s Lavenir jacket which arrived today and wish to thank him as the jacket far exceeded my expectations. As his advert said, it certainly is in excellent condition. Many thanks Neil, you are an absolute gent. OB
  18. Bargain of the week/month 👍 The case alone is worth that. OB
  19. Not quite Thailand, but your photo did bring back good memories when I used to crew on my late brother`s boat. Here is a photo of the wife and I on his Westerly Fulmar crossing from Guernsey over to Sark. The ship in the background is the Oriana if I recall. Happy days. OB
  20. I totally agree OPP and always look forward to new posts as above. There are also some very generous guys on here too. Shambam1962 very kindly sent me three laminated crook heads for me to have a go at finishing off as I’ve never tried making a crook head stick before. He even gave full instructions how best to proceed. I am still steadily proceeding, but know full well that I won’t be able to match his exacting standards. OB
  21. I greatly admire your skill and follow all the processes with great interest. From stickmaking, pen making and now duck calls. Is there no end to your craftsmanship and determination always to try something different? Many thanks for posting and keep them coming. OB
  22. I admire you for having a go and putting right someone else`s bad workmanship/maintenance along with that Remington you got working ok. It only takes a bit of determination and your obvious skill of course. Well done. OB
  23. I have a 3 gun cabinet and upon buying my fifth gun, Kent police queried this with me. The 5 guns were ‘top and tailed’ so fitted in ok and the door could be shut. I emailed them a photo of the guns in their positions in the cabinet and got a reply that all was well. As previously said, providing they fit ok and the door can be locked, then that would appear to be the main criteria. I can only assume that my FEO must have recorded the cabinet as a 3 door one in the first instance. OB
