  1. Thank you These are ready made and seem to be exactly what I need.
  2. Being skewers I need the flat edges to turn them to cook on all sides. The BBQ’s I use don’t use grates It’s a Greek thing I hadn’t seen those, I called a few metal companies and every time the sizes start at 6mm. Your first link link is in fact 4mm and 500 long but seems very expensive when I can get 6mm at 3m for £14+vat ypur second link are only 300 long so no good for me. Thanks anyway, your first link supplier is in Cyprus so maybe Ill call a cousin out there to see how much he can get them for me as I can get them shipped for nothing. Cos
  3. Thanks for all the help so far guys. Seemingly 4mm square isn’t easy to find. Fount 6mm 304 3m lengths at a reasonable £14+vat, but is a little too thick. I’ll keep hunting around but may just make a few in 6mm and see how they work out.
  4. Every operating system behaves differently even if they are glitches. Presuming you you are using Windows, which version is it? Regarding restarting your PC, you shouldn’t need to, you can close your file explorer through Task Manager.
  5. Will 304 by ok as far as rust is concerned? 6mm too thick, but liking the price!! I will look at some 4mm
  6. Thank you and of course. I already have have quite a few, but they are much thinner and have bent over time. 4mm will be very sturdy plus I want to make them extra long and no handles.
  7. Anyone know best place to get some 4mm square stainless steel rods please? Wanting to make my own bbq skewers, so need to be a marine grade I’m guessing, so can anyone tell me also what grade (technical term) I’m looking for? Not decided yet but will be around 500mm long each and will be wanting to make around 20. So I’m happy to buy long lengths and cut them myself. Thanks Cos
  8. Apart from the fact the backing gives you more concealment, it actually stops your gun snagging like they do with every net which doesn’t have it!
  9. Stealth (ghost) net, excellent concealment and super light weight. Be careful there's a lot of cheap versions around. I bought my first one from Paul around 10 years ago and still looks as new with no snags or tears; I've seen mates ones fall apart within 6 months. My second one was bought some 4/5 years ago and also just as good though slightly different materials. http://www.thepigeonshooter.com/shop/decoys/hide-poles-nets Paul is a top man to deal with and service is second to none IMHO. 10. Another anti LR post To the OP, do yourself a favour and go onto a LR forum where you will find out all the quirks and issues for any given year and model. That way you can make your own mind up on whether or not you want to go for one. Reading any LR post on here, I'm shocked every time I see one on the road, it's like a miracle every time!
  11. Cheap hide poles, bucket seat, army net. Cheap hide poles will will let you down when the ground is hard. Bucket seat is too low and after a busy day shooting your legs will know abot it. Army net, horrible smelly and heavy.

You, my good man, are a fountain of knowledge and a credit to your trade!! i thank you and everyone else for all the advice. Now it’s down to me to put it to practice. I will come back and report how it goes for me. I can’t be the only person to have learned a lot through these posts by you and all. Thank you Cos

    Heating system

Thank you again for a very in depth explanation to a plumbing thicko. I understand it now. Im probably going to get shot down for this, but my water is always on constant. Something a Vailent engineer told me in the last house. He went on to explain these cylinders are so efficient that they will keep the water at temperature for a long time. So even though water is set to constant, the boiler only kicks on when you use some of the hot water. Being we are four in the house showering at all times of the day, this suited me as we never run out of hot water. Since then, a few years now last house and this, water is set to constant. I can’t say I had a noticeable difference in my gas bill. Back to what hat you’ve explained, I had no issues with my heating last time. The only difference was last system was all Vailant including the pressurised cylinder.

I have to admit at being a little lost around M.D. the hot water part. I have a Megaflo pressurised system. Apologies if if this sounds silly, but are both temps taken on the rad next to each valve, in and out? I have no idea I’m afraid

The house as said is some 30 years old and all original without any extensions added, I can tell the boiler was replaced but the rads were all original. The changes have just been made now where we knocked 3 rooms into one, and I got my plumbers to do this so confident the pipework is good. I'm keen to get it sorted because we are going to be creating another lounge so another 2 rads will be added to the system. Reading this and the other posts, it does seem to be a balancing problem, so I will look at doing that first; I'll invest in one of those laser thermometer gizmo's to do a much more accurate balance this time round.

It was set to III Would you say this is powerful enough?

I did look at these but if I’m honest, I didn’t like the look of them being a little bulky, but also not sure I need so much control. I’ve also got a couple of mates that have spent a small fortune on this stuff and they’ve had problems which just puts me off, I think TRVs are probably ample for me.

This is what is on the system. Again, I have no idea of this is a “Standard” pump or powerful enough.

The boiler is a Worcester FS30CDI which is 32.1kw. I have no idea if that is powerful enough.

The system did work well when we bought it but room downstairs were smaller. We joined three of the rooms into one large kitchen diner and floor to ceiling sliding doors. Doing this we reconfigured the rads making them bigger for higher BTU. Do have Drayton TRV4’s on all the new rads. All the old rads also have older style TRV’s, they look like Honeywell. All these will be changed in time also. Thanks for the in depth reply. Some useful information!!

Wow, I had no idea there was a switch for the speed on these pumps. There are a load of rads in this house, so guessing a higher speed to get hot water to the end of the line quickly before it cools too much is what I’m after? We have 21 rads.

I’d like to think if the water was that bad my plumbers would have told me and done something to clear it . I don’t know if bleeding the rads is a way to tell, but water runs clean. I haven’t looked at the magnaclean since I moved in so will also check that also . Should I add some inhibitor in the magnaclean? No fancy rads, these are the usual white panel radiators; Going from memory the y are made by Kartell or K-Rad. Thanks for all all the advice guys, some things for me to try.

Ok Will try that tomorrow, I’ll turn all upstairs off and see how downstairs reacts to that. I wasnt aware ware you could change the speed of the pump!!

I turned all the upstairs rooms off and opened them just over a quarter turn. Downstairs rads are open fully. All the rads but one have thermostatic valves.

The plumbers drained down more than once as we did the rads in stages, but I’m not sure any chemicals were used to flush the system.
