    Heating system

The system has a Magnaclean. I don’t know the system design but from what I’m reading on the net the pipes go upstairs first, so the downstairs rads are probably the end of the run so to speak.

    Heating system

Been in this house just over two years. The house is around 30 years old and the boiler has definitely been changed prior to us buying the house Heating system consists of an ample floor standing Worcester boiler and a Megaflow. Ive changed 8 radiators so far as we do the house up slowly, but will eventually change them all During this really cold spell the downstairs isn’t heating up adequately, it’s fine during normal winters. The upstairs gets really hot. Today I balanced the system having followed some guides on the net but some of my new rads are cooler down the bottom than they are up top. Reading about this symptom, there’s suggestion that it could be sludge in the system. Does this sound right? Why are the new rads, not all, affected and not the old ones? Rads are good quality and I went over the recommended for BTU per room. The kitchen diner is quite large with lots of glass and that is suffering mostly. But the hallway is also not getting hot enough. Bothe of these have new rads Is is it worth having a power flush, is that likely to make a difference? What would I expect to pay? Apologies for the long winded post; Any other suggestions welcome. Cos
  3. I had a stud wall in my last house in a utility room where I fitted some kitchen units. I marked the top line of the units and cut along the line for the width of all the units and about 12” down. I took that section of plasterboard out and replaced it with 1/2” ply which I screwed to the studs. Mounted the units onto the ply which was hidden by the kitchen units and was solid as a rock.
  4. DIXONS as a company is still strong, they simply changed strategy being they had Curry’s and PcWorld
  5. Your budget will get you a good gun. As above the early Berreta’s are very good, Benelli and Browning are also good guns. Your budget will get you an excellent SX3 also. As always when buying a gun, pick one up and see how it feels for you. I loved the SX3 but found it was quite slim and I prefer a chunkier gun. But that’s just personal preference rather than a good or bad gun. If if you can shoot before you buy, even better. Cos
  6. I didn’t go this year. Having been to a few, they are not that different year on year. So I tend to go every two or three years and enjoy it for what it is. Depending what you’re after, if factor in the cost of getting there, entry and food, you’d be quids in giving your money to a local shop where you will also build a relationship . Last time I was looking for a semi auto, I went to the show with little confidence that Id get a bargain. It was somewhere to get to see and feel all the guns I read about in magazines and that helped me make a choice.
  7. Normal service resumed indeed!! Well done that man!!

    IKEA drawers

Call them up, tell them what you have and they will take it from there.

  10. A much better length gun me thinks that would also appeal to more people on resale. Congratulations again, the SX3 is as you said a well proven gun. I used a friends a few years back at a clay ground and liked it a lot. Cos
  11. Congratulations on the new gun. Just a quick question, did you handle a 30” barrel before ordering? Being a semi auto that will be the equivalent of 32” barrels on an O/U, a very long gun if your using mainly on pigeons. Cos

    Alexa

I didn’t think the forum was full of technophobes, I’m sorry to hear all these negative responses. I think the concept is excellent and whilst many people will slag it off, this is the way of the future. In it’s simplest form it’s very good, but it’s potential is endless. Like everything in life it has its downsides and pitfalls, but this really is the tip of the iceberg. If you don’t like technology then that’s fine, but this is how life is going whether you like it or not.

    New mortgage

Though a lot of truth has been said around mortgages and living beyond ones means, one major point I haven’t seen anywhere (but I accept is still a gamble) is the rate in which house value has gone up in the last 30-40 years and how much profit has been there to be made. My beleif is there is no right or wrong way to do it. One should do what one feels is right for them. There are so many factors that come into play, with salary and interest rates only being part of the equation. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, foresight is another thing altogether. Only time will tell you whether you made the right choice for you.
  17. Hey Mungler Dont know if it’s any good or convenient for you, I’m on Cuffley now, but I can get my hands on an all singing and dancing Snap On charger if you want to drop the battery at mine. Happy to put it on that if you like. Cos

I’m gonna sound like an **** but, you can strip and re-lube a watch but can’t tell if it can be used for an activity!!
  19. Very nice bag this time of year.
  20. There’s always one, I’d be impressed when there isn’t!!
  21. Great skill and craftsmanship. I to love carpentry and have done a lot of similar bits at my home. Cos
  22. I had the same problem with an old power planer. Replaced it with a Makita cordless planer and what a difference. It will shave anything from a slither up to 2mm with ease. Very accurate machine and mirror finish. Apologies for hijacking the post.
  23. I have the Leather lined Aigles and a pair of their fleece socks. The socks are only worn on really cold days. Normal walking socks are ample for your average winters day. Very comfortable, with a quality feel. Probably had mine near on 4 years (I think) and still look brand new.
  24. Thanks guys. The mirrors are are for a 54 plate Mercedes. Ive managed to find some in Luton, the same colour to, so hopefully they respond and I drive over tomorrow. Cos
