  1. Cheers Mrs S - Look forward to it
  2. Thanks Gary and Webber - Sweepys......are you out there?? Any advice much appreciated.
  3. Looking to get my first gun dog. Have had staffs and boxers as pets, but looking for something to train to flush and retrieve. Missus not overly keen on springers, so i was thinking of a clumber spaniel. Anyone had good/bad experiences with them? I understand that there are potentially hip, back and eye problems, but wondered how commonly these problems occurred. Any help appreciated. Thanks Matt
  4. Extra strong mints glued to a backstop - Explode lovely!!
  5. Michael - I'm laid up with a broken tibia at the moment - Is the gun still for sale and if so, can you wait a bit?
  6. Jenning's Snecklifter, Dark Star, Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold, Abbot Ale, Bishop's Finger As for the whisky, Talisker is tickling the taste buds at the moment
  7. Thanks Piebob - I'll get me ears syringed tomorrow
  8. Iron Horse's bluegrass cover of the Black album is initially very funny, but after a few plays stands up in its own right. The Metallica version of "Whiskey in the jar" always gets me chuckling on the pronunciation of "Watting for my daddyo" - Quality
  9. QUOTE (Evil Elvis @ Jun 2 2008, 03:56 PM) QUOTE Oh dear, you can expect some flak for this Why? I don't see how anybody could get any pleasure from shooting a hare. Easy - Just add onions, carrots, mushrooms, couple of pints of stock and a drop of port!!
  10. As far as I'm aware, it's the same as a flush - You stand in a line in teams of two, three, four etc and they pump loads of clays in front of you (normally 25 per person) from various angles, with a scorer behind you counting the misses. Good fun, especially if you have a reloader to hand to help out.
  11. When i had my interview, i asked the guy if he wanted to see my cabinet - He asked me if i had a gun yet, to which i replied "no". His response was "Well you don't need a cabinet yet then, do you?" Logically, the cabinet needs to come and be installed just before you get your gun.

Tonight he's cooking slow roasted Oddie with caramelised binoculars and grated beard
  13. Cheers chaps - What i'd be doing would be doing my usual round of sporting (doing my bit for clay preservation) and then ask whoever's taking the entry money if the kids can have a go at five or ten clays on one of the easy (or less busy) stands just to give them a little interest
  14. Let's give Graeme Garden or Tim Brooke Taylor a go
  15. Thanks ddanby - Might give it a go - Seems there's nowt down South in a 410!!
  16. Cheers Badger - Bit too distant for me - I'll probably spend that on petrol!!! Many thanks though - Anyone else?
  17. Anyone within 50 miles radius of Stanford le Hope (South Essex) got a cheap .410 lying around gathering dust? Needs to be a wee one as my daughters want to go clay shooting with me - Would prefer O/U or S/S to a single shot. All offers considered. Many thanks.
  18. I'm quite lucky in my job as i get to do a lot of corporate shooting with the Quentin's of this world - Seems to be a case of "all the gear and no idea" most of the time. Still, at least they look nice in the photos! LV - If there is any shooting going on in aid of Little Havens, please PM me - They took very good care of my granddaughter when she was on respite breaks and when she unfortunately died, the care and facilities they offered were absolutely fantastic. Really good organisation doing a really heartbreaking job. Thanks, Matt
  19. Many thanks for that Taff - Will hold off on the licence until I'm sure it's more than a 5 minute wonder!!! Anyone got a cheap (<£200) .410 o/u for sale in the South Essex or surrounding areas please - I'm about 8 miles from the Dartford Crossing,so I'll be demanding a £2 discount for the bridge toll!!
  20. Technical question that i'm sure has been done to death a thousand times, so i apologies in advance!! I have 2 daughters aged 7 and 9 who have used air rifles in the back garden (under supervision and at proper targets!!) but who now want to come out with me when i shoot clays. They had a go at the Kent Game Fair on the BASC stand and seemed to do very well with a 20 bore, albeit that most of the gun was actually controlled by the very patient BASC instructor. What i need to know is this - if i buy a .410 or 28 bore and stick it on my SG licence, are the girls able to use the gun, under my supervision, at clay grounds where they (The clay ground) have a dispensation for those without a licence to shoot?? Again, apologies if i'm going over old ground, but if this has been answered before, could you please post the link to the thread. Many thanks,  Matt
  21. Take it to a gun shop and have them value it - Assuming that they will want to turn a profit on it, it will be worth £50 (ish) more than they offer you for it.
  22. Depending on age and condition, you're probably looking at 350 max for a private sale.
  23. It's a nice idea, but there are a few inaccuracies in there - Check 'em out
