  1. Not a racist term, but it has it's origins in slavery
  2. That may well be why i said it - I've got very familiar with the several hundred acres of farmland around me since we went on lockdown
  3. Well, something is eating them by me - The top branches are virtually empty and they are well out the way of human hands
  4. Don't bother with a press - Look up smash burgers.
  5. With swimming pools closed i find i'm going swimming in the sea an awful lot more and unless someone in the party votes to stay ashore or we swim in relays, we have nowhere to safely store our gear, so I'm after a small to medium dry bag that i can take swimming with me - Something i can stick phone keys and wallet in - I've got a dry wallet, but it doesn't quite hold enough. I've got a few old canoeing dry bags, but wondered whether anybody was able to recommend a 2 to 10 litre dry bag that can take maybe an hour of being in the water and not just a bit of splashing
  6. I posted about this a month or so back - We're looking to get a new pup but prices are flippin ridiculous. Part of me wants to wait and see what turns up at Battersea in November
  7. I concur Glasgow angling have a decent selection on special at the moment
  8. It's a balance with MRE's - What you save in weight and bulk of food, you lose in the amount of water needed to rehydrate it. The older i get the more the food forms a bigger part of the highlight of my day (That and the chance to sit down!) and it's nice to get some fresh in there as well - Smoke meats are perfect
  9. For the value and quality of those axes i would have said you were wasting your time, but that is indeed an excellent transformation to be very proud of. Was the handle huge blobs of epoxy and a while on the grinder?
  10. You do know we won at Agincourt don't you?
  11. I've got the same decision to make very soon - Massive lump on her flank - Third time she has had it and the vet is now saying no more. She is happy as anything and no pain at the moment, but the time is coming.
  12. They look splendid - Just back from the in-laws who live in Oakham (next door to Melton Mowbray) and have a stock of Leesons pork pies - They've won bundles of trophies for their pies and all on display
  13. That is beyond question - Of course they were!!
  14. I'm down to 1 dog now and she's knocking on a bit, so want to get a pup underway, but where do you get dogs these days? There's a billion and one websites that i don't trust not to be puppy farms and tons of designer crosses that are expensive and not fit for purpose and there doesn't seem to be anybody around me on my permissions having litters. Any recommendations? I've always had clumbers and i have a clumber/lab cross now that really is the perfect dog for me, so want to stay roughly in the same arena (ish), but working clumber pups are rarer than rocking horse poop. I'm based in South Essex if that helps!
  15. Hopefully a few people will get in on the game and competition will drive the price down. My wildfowling club has just mandated non-toxic and non-plastic where possible, so would definitely appreciate a price drop - Especially with my cartridge to kill ratio!
  16. That's a hell of a construction and looks like 6 components to it, but why does that mean steel fibres are double the price - No way on this earth that costs 20p to mass manufacture
  17. Well done that man. Bazza tried to get me into it, but try as i might, i just can't get excited about the whole set up with carp/cats I've had a go with the fly, but the water in a carp lake is generally so murky they don't seem to see the flies
  18. I'm not sure what i'm going to to do this year. My farm (or at least part of it) is going to form part of the new Thames Crossing and they have been taking measurements and soil samples all year, so my crop choice presently consists of onions and spuds - Not sure that's going to get the pigeons in, but hoping the ducks may take a liking to it later in the year
  19. Couldn't agree more - Just because we are at the top of the food chain doesn't mean there isn't room for anything else.
