  1. When I moved to my current home I had a firebird boiler. Dreadful bit of kit, always leaking and lots of breakdowns. On the recommendation of the company who maintained my boiler I fitted a Grant condensing boiler. Its been in 5 years now with no trouble at all. Can recommend the Grant.

    Bread

When I was working, I had a death in service Insurance. When I reached 50 the insurers requested I take a medical. So off I went into York to a private surgery. The medical was conducted by a retired York surgeon who now worked for Harley Street Consultants. During the medical he outlined to me 4 things which are bad in your diet as you get older. They were Bread, Rice, Pasta and Potatoes. The reason he gave was that all these foods are high in starch. As we digest them they turn to sugar and our blood sugar levels soar. As a result our pancreas kicks in and produces insulin to lower the blood sugar level. Eventually, as we reach our 50's and 60's, the pancreas decides its had enough and stops producing insulin. This results is the onset of type 2 diabetes. It is apparently the fastest growing disease in the western world. Recently I read that it's best to eat several smaller meals in the day, rather than a couple of big ones. Again this controls the activity of your pancreas, not making it work too hard. Hope that's of benefit.

    EU In or out

I sincerely hope that everyone on here wanting OUT, makes the effort to go and vote. It's the only way to get our freedom again. Make the effort.! Go and vote for OUT. !!
  4. Yet another cracking video Stevo. Keep posting, much appreciated.
  5. Great video Stevo with some excellent shooting. An interesting comment about the Pigeon Select cartridges, a friend ( Hawkfanz of this forum ) and I tried them and we felt that they were a bit on the light side. Keep posting Stevo, always a really good watch, if sometimes an enviable one with the calibre of the shooting !. Well done Stevo.
  6. Contribution made. Heart warming to see the response from so many Pigeon Watch members.
  7. Stevo, I log into into this forum most days, always interested in peoples experiences and opinions. However the highlight on this forum, for me anyway, are your excellent video's. Enjoy them tremendously. Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to share them with us all, they are much appreciated, and I hope you continue to do so. Excellent shooting and I hope her indoors goes easy on you !!
  8. I used Baikal cartridges when I first started pigeon shooting about 35 years ago. The kids were young and I didn't have much money to invest in guns and cartridges, so I used these cartridges through a Baikal O/U shotgun. The recoil was horrendous and the confetti and spouts of flame out of the barrel were quite amazing. Especially if you were roost shooting and it was getting dark. In spring and summer on occasions when I would shoot a lot of cartridges, I had to take a strip of headache tablets with me. If the shooting was good I always had a throbbing headache half way through the day and had to pump myself full of Anadins to keep going. The cartridges killed okay and the gun worked faultlessly for about 25 years.
  9. Same thing happened to me yesterday, lots of pigeons feeding in the field the day before and when we set up Sunday morning they all just flew off with only the odd bird passing. Picked up 4 only. But come spring when the flocks split and they start going onto the new drilling's or dropping into the dwindling pieces of very low OSR then you will forget all the disappointments of the winter. I shoot in the winter for the farmers benefit to try and keep them off the OSR. But come spring I shoot for myself and try and get the numbers. Stick with it pull2007, it will be worth it in the spring !
  10. Hi shootgun, Nice quality video, enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing it with us. I have a silver pigeon which I use for game and clay shooting, shoot quite well with it, ( for me anyway ). Shoot pigeons with a Browning maxus, but I am struggling to be as consistent with it as I am with the O/U. I reckon it's just down to practice, keep going, I am sure it will come good.
  11. Hi Guys Thank you very much for responding. I shall try Beverley aga man. Many thanks.
  12. Hi Fuddster, You are correct about York guns and the Gunroom. I was in Pocklington last week and Chris only purchased a full pallet of RC some time ago and has now sold all the clay cartridges. He is not a regular stockist. Thanks for your response.
  13. Hi guys, Anyone know of a gunshop in East Yorkshire which stocks RC cartridges. ? I am looking to buy clay cartridges, not game. Any assistance would be appreciated. Many thanks.
  14. My granddaughter has an i-pad. Absolutely loves it.
  15. Hi Steve, It depends on what you use it for. Since I retired last year I no longer need a laptop at home for computing, ie, spreadsheets etc. I mainly surf the net and compose/reply to E-mails, so I bought a Chromebook. It has the Google chrome operating system and is specifically designed for the purposes I outlined. However you can access some apps like Google docs which give you access to some basic office type programs which are cloud based. It has a built in webcam for Skype and there are again many apps for photo's etc. I also purchased a Chromecast dongle. ( £30 ) This plugs into a flat screen TV and permits you to view on your TV what you are watching on your Chromebook. A bit fiddly to set up but is very good when viewing some of the video's on this forum. The last one of Stevo using his new Beretta auto were great on the TV. I paid £270 from Argos and find it quite good for my needs. Have been using it for about a month now and it performs well. I could have bought a tablet like i-pad but fancied a proper keyboard. ( Age related syndrome ! ) If you need more, you could bob into PC world for some free advice. Hope this helps.
