  1. Skeet bottom barrel Quarter top barrel for me. 8s or 9s 28g are fine. have gone through periods of using Quarter in both barrels. And always practice with the combination you’re going to use in competition.
  2. Eley Superb fibre 9s are supposedly a good Skeet Cartridge. I’ve seen a few straights done with them.
  3. Doveridge won’t be to far and there’s lots of places to hide if you don’t want an audience.
  4. I've given myself a target to beat on my second cap have to get to work on that. I shall inform my porter her services are no longer required
  5. I certainly do Next trip I'll get them in
  6. I was there Was a great experience and an honour to shoot with and against some great shots
  7. Probably best to stick to the Nottingham Sporting Clays side this weekend. As PhillR has pointed out, the HBD DTL English and British championships wouldn't be a good idea to start at if you're new to competitive shooting. There's a DTl registered and practice all disciplines on the NSC side and they're very helpfull, they'll talk you through it all.
  8. Probably best shooting gun down if you're a sporting shot having a dabble at Skeet. I personally shoot gun up, 'mounted' as I maintain lead and like to drop them quick. My face will probably be half an inch off the stock and then I'll push it into my face as I'm calling pull and moving the gun.
  9. Yeah, always come from slightly below the target. Don't let it panic you, but pick it out quick and pull the trigger. Most miss over the top or in front as they're swinging through it to much. So keep slightly under it like you would on low 7.
  10. I feel your Kegworth pain. Been there done that A Looper at Kegworth is the makings of a nightmare I wouldn't wake up from
  11. Ahhh Nice one....The North is saved. Don't put me on a squad with Timps and Chard. It is a charity shoot after all.. And don't fall for Timp's old 'Black pudding trick' The dirty *******. He's a Bandit.
  12. Could the Powers that be check I've signed on correctly.....Ta..
  13. Yeah, I'm not knocking them eiter. They know how to put a shoot on without a doubt. But like you say, More "three in the air" or on the ground would have been more to my liking. I need a new Auto aswell . Mine was trying to load two carts at a time .
  14. Having shot a couple of Benelli's at West London, this shoot didn't seem to have the same feeling to it. Hodnet is the better ground for shooting English Sporting in my humble opinion, but I havn't come away thinking I have shot something diffrent. Which is what I enter the Benelli for. It felt like a major comp like the English or British, which Hodnet is the perfect ground for. and I enjoy immensely Maybe it's the space that a ground like WL have that I prefer, but I just didn't get the same Buzz... Wonder where it will be next year....I'm all ready excited
  15. A Good shoot, but hopefully back at West London next year......
  16. I pick up my empties if I'm practicing and just kick them out of the way of the next shooter if I'm in a comp. I only do this as the next shooter up is usually in the 'Zone' and dosen't want to watch me messing about looking for my empty carts. A few times I've had the next shooter up say don't bother with them, as they want in the stand and down to business. And if you are whinning and crying over a few carts on the deck, then get out there and pick all your Wads up ya mong. I have a man called Timps who picks mine up for me with his Special needs white magnetic stick.
  17. Yes. Some of the Greatest shots that ever lived use a semi auto
  18. Many Many thanks to Timps for letting me Play with his Semi on the Second course...I even kissed it a few times And thanks for letting me use his AL391 aswell, You're a good lad, I don't care what anyone says. A great day out only let down by my Rusty ***** shooting, and my inability to shoot a 682 I dunny like em. Well shot to the Lads on my Squad..A pleasure to shoot with them as allways....Apart from Chard
  19. They wouldn't let you join. Their's a Registered on at Catton this month. Why don't you come out of retirement and show us how it's done.
  20. No way I've read some utter ***** on this forum recently but you and skeet with win thrown in is taking the **** Craig son.....You know how devastating I am with my Auto....Don't even try this ****. You jump on the Benelli by Feb the something and you get two whole quid off. It's drawing near as it's only in May. I won the Members comp at MCSC with an Auto when I was a member. Thats the moment I decided I needed a bigger Buzz than swatting clays for no reason at Worsley. A good ground for the club shooter. or the Borat bikkini wearing ****-soak. I would rather shoot badly against the Big boys. with like minded competitive grumpy old ****. When I grow up thats exactly what I want to be.
