have you tried putting some tape round adaptor, sometimes my caravan does that and its just a loose connection.

I’ll try but strange that it happens with two different adaptors.

How old is he Hilux and how old is the trailer? The reason I ask, is some Hilux's don't like LED lights. Are you also getting an audible alarm in the cab?

Both were happily taking to each other a week ago. Non LED lights. No alarm in the cab….

  2. My ifor horsebox isn’t talking to the hilux. The ifor has a 7 pin connector and the hilux a 13 pin so we have an adaptor in the middle. No lights are coming on on the ifor but the adaptor is making the hilux indicator double tick (as it always has done) until the ‘box is connected.

I’ve changed the adaptor but no joy.

Am I correct in thinking that if the hilux is responding to the adaptor then the fault lies with the ifor rather than the hilux?

    All help greatly appreciated!

  3. I'm amazed that I am re-posting this as its all still here a year later. It's almost worth buying a 16 just to get through the cartridges!

Lovely, but would be better if it was 'round' 😉.

See my previous message quoted above. This BLE is 70mm proofed and i've altered the chokes so it can use standard steel to take the pressure off (pun intended!) the Round Action. GBS

The latest addition to make an 'irregular' pair.

    Same maker (ish).

Same weight, barrel length, almost the same stock dimensions but slightly different handling.

    Same engraver....?

The Dickson boxlock has been slowly restored over the past year with a full strip/boil/service, barrels re-engraved and then re-blacked. Its now looking quite smart. The hand needs to be re-chequered but that can wait until February.

Here is the case. Which, my apologies, appears that it is likely in fact a hammer gun case. It would accommodate barrels of 30" to just under 31". I have taken some pictures. Personally I don't think it is for you. The lock is one of those that can be locked both  by key (which it no longer has) and by turning the round "collar" ninety degrees so as to lock the case, as it were, but without using a key. Anyhow here are the pictures. If it were my project I do however think if you relined it with new fabric and addressed the two leather straps it'd be a nice case:

Thank you Ed. It’s not quite what I’m after. Without being rude (hopefully!) I’m after something of slightly better quality. Say Brady type case as a minimum. Thanks again, GBS

I will send a picture tomorrow. I have something that may suite being correct for the period requested. £37 plus postage which I'd guess at about £12 via Parcelforce 48. Or collect from near J21 of the M1 use postcode LE9 2AL.

Thank you, i look forward to seeing photographs.  GBS

  9. I am in the process of restoring an old Dickson BLE and am after a leather or canvas & leather shotgun case suitable for a 29" side by side.

It needs to be period correct for a 1923 gun. I'm happy with wear and tear and marks but don't want any damage/broken parts.

    Thanks,

I would suggest if you have 2 to shoot and 1 to hold the birds i would not alter anything

We scatter as you do and also have a feeder on the bank

I agree. I would leave the holding pond alone. It sounds like you have a perfect set up.

I should have explained that the two ponds are 5km apart (as the duck flies). The holding pond is much bigger than the other two. I have found some decoys down there which might be interesting to try. GBS

  11. Question 1.

I feed a number of flighting ponds. Two work very well as evening flighting ponds but the third seems to be a day pond holding 100+ ducks by day and all gone by dusk.

I am considering putting a timed automatic feeder on the pond to only feed at night to try and change this pattern. Am I being unrealistic?

    Question 2.

When feeding I have always put the feed into the shallows and/or just on the bank. I shot a friend's pond last season who had a normal barrel feeder with a pan/tray type outlet on the bottom. The feeder was sited on the bank probably 2-3m from the water. The flight was successful so this seems to work. Has anyone any experience and pros/cons of using this method?

    Many thanks, GBS
