Having cheesy beans with scrambled eggs? surely not adding cheese to the eggs as they cook?

They were lovely to be fair, would have them again. Adding cheese into the pot as they cook thickens them up anyways so not sure it’s a fair comparison but I enjoyed. An easy quick dinner.

No, have you seen the price of cheese lately? Poor people have the supermarket own brand beans with no cheese! Have you never seen Dennis the menace?

Gave Branston beans a try after recommendations on here! Lots of cheese dumped in when cooking.

Good for him. Many people avoid working in the public sector as the pays better in the private sector. A good civil service pension is the reward for years of work in awful institutions.

I would imagine if Sunak does bail them out it’ll be the final nail in the Tory coffin. A PR dream for Labour, if Starmer doesn’t capitalise on it then he’s a bigger idiot that people claim. “UK tax payer subsidised private companies while at working families can’t pay their bills or feed their kids”.

If they take it into public ownership, then the Government will have to invest in the infrastructure, which they simply don’t have the money to do. Prisons are failing, Police, Fire, NHS are all short staffed compared to demand. They don’t have the money or the skills and ability to run Thames Water. Instead of loaning the billions needed and messing it all up, they instead allow a private company to come in and attempt it. That private company’s first priority is to make a reasonable return on their investment. Once they take out their dividends. What’s left over gets spent on the services. It’s no different in many many industries. Good luck finding anyone to input the money needed to build the infrastructure needed without wanting to take those dividends.

We currently have a number of engineering structures crumbling due to the concrete being so old. They should be reviewed to ensure they’re still fit for purpose is what I’m saying. Not sure if it would have made a big difference in this exact case.

The Bridge has the same issue as lots of infrastructure around the world, bridges, hospitals, prisons, the lot … they’re so astronomically expensive to build no one ever considers replacing them until they’re a complete wreck or something awful happens.

I believe most of (or all) of the people who entered the water were road workers.
