  1. Dangeorus game for them to be playing, “paying the tax”, considering most beaters / pickers up are out from around 8/9am - 2-3pm easily, and get “paid” about £30-40. Could be accused of slave labour 🤣
  2. If your state pension is around £12,000, and your tax free allowance is around the same, then the state pension will take up that amount. After getting state pension you no longer pay the 12% (now 10%) national insurance charge. Any tax on private pension should then only be taxed at 20% up to the 40% tax threshold, just over £50,000. I am struggling to see how people “lose half” of their private pensions to tax, unless their private pensions are enormous?
  3. I believe that is incorrect. Your historic NI contributions funded people on pensions at that time. The current pension payments are funded by current NI payments, not historic ones. There is no fund or investment that was paid into.
  4. Yep, just paid out of a different benefits pot and given less benefits overall! As usual, most new big policies are some sort of con to leave you worse off! Surely they only take 20% as tax? Why are you lads losing half of not over the 40% tax threshold?
  5. Manage to live fine just off a state pension then? Or you have a private one as well and that covers weekly shop etc too?
  6. Here’s the real question: how much pension do you really need to get for a standard of living that’s reasonable? I know it’ll always differ based on spending habits.
  7. Allow “early access” but also notes putting the age up to 71…
  8. Hawke Endurance Red Dot 1x30.I’ve used it a few times on my 22lr which was good fun, would suit a semi auto even better. I believe can also be used on centrefire but I’ve not done to myself. Has a low profile and a QD weaver / piccatiny mount (both included). £90 posted
  9. Which it is, just not to the level that people were hoping / expecting. As Oowee has said, if people want bigger/better/earlier pensions, then that money will need to be raised from tax payers, at a time when the tax threshold is the highest it has ever been. I will have to work until gone 70 by the time I reach state pension age, if they haven’t scrapped it or made it means tested by then.
  10. Probably need about £47,000 in cash deposit now to even get on the proper ladder, deposit, fees etc.
  11. They’re meant to make provisions for themselves so that when they reach retirement age, they have the means to retire and support themselves. Someone of working age is expected to have rent / mortgage, travel etc. I believe pensioners who don’t own their property are able to claim housing benefits to pay towards rent, as opposed to someone who’d paid off a mortgage and gets no money towards their housing costs. Once again, the “I’ve paid my stamp all my life” brigade, the vast vast majority of them have paid a tiny amount compared to the cost of the services provided. Either that, or they need to carry on working. Many people in the USA or similar places aren’t able to retire due to health costs and no pension plans. They get social security after a certain age (it’s higher if you take it later) but it’s only around $4000 a year.
  12. Is it the full length sporter? Is that the original stock (it looks lovely) 👍🏻
  13. Anschutz 1417 in 22lr Got the better 2 stage trigger Siroco sound moderator Has the 14” match barrel Non thumb hole stock Additional piccatiny rail - Britannia match £400 ONO - located in Bristol UK
  14. Looks like they want to keep the money / wealth in the country?
  15. God forbid people point out the issues with a hope we could improve our country.
  16. Quality of life is different to everyone as we all like / prioritise different things. For many, having disposable income left after paying everything and having time / enjoyable experiences is a good measure. It’s a bit easier to have enjoyable experiences abroad as you can go out in nature / the sea etc without paying ££. It’s not quite the same taking your kids sea swimming when it’s 2c outside in the UK. 🤣🤣 Bargain loving Brits in the sun is always a good watch I find it quite amusing. They’re not living lavish lives but are living in Benidorm and similar areas on a low budget but the quality of life they have often exceeds what they’d have if they’d stayed in the UK. Shopping significantly cheaper, booze, meals out, entertainment, weather is nicer so you can enjoy the outdoors (which is free). One lad commented its so cheap to eat out he never cooks 🤣 I bet many of them been deeply impacted by Brexit etc though!
  17. My wife’s sister lived out there and whilst some things are expensive when looking at like for like, 👍🏻 that things are significantly cheaper. You adjust your lifestyle / buying habits where possible so it’s hard to do a like for like comparison. Her husband works for a pest control company, she doesn’t work / does a bit of part time work. They own a 4 bedroom house with a swimming pool in a nice area, where the local parks and scenery are stunning, extremely well kept and managed. They have access to similar levels of services, good education, health, etc. Would they be able to live anywhere near that level of lifestyle in the UK? Raising 3 kids on 1 persons wage, buying a 4 bed house with a pool and living in a lovely area… definitely not! Costs have gone up over there no doubt, the same as anywhere else in the world.
  18. You have to ask where they went wrong. A reputation for poor workmanship and issues these days.
  19. Check with the clay ground. The one South of Bristol is very relaxed and shouldn’t be an issue, but check as you never know they have have tightened up. The ones North of Bristol are strict and won’t let non SGC shoot unless with an instructor (one of theirs) which obvs makes it costly.
