  1. Quality of life is different to everyone as we all like / prioritise different things. For many, having disposable income left after paying everything and having time / enjoyable experiences is a good measure. It’s a bit easier to have enjoyable experiences abroad as you can go out in nature / the sea etc without paying ££. It’s not quite the same taking your kids sea swimming when it’s 2c outside in the UK. 🤣🤣 Bargain loving Brits in the sun is always a good watch I find it quite amusing. They’re not living lavish lives but are living in Benidorm and similar areas on a low budget but the quality of life they have often exceeds what they’d have if they’d stayed in the UK. Shopping significantly cheaper, booze, meals out, entertainment, weather is nicer so you can enjoy the outdoors (which is free). One lad commented its so cheap to eat out he never cooks 🤣 I bet many of them been deeply impacted by Brexit etc though!
  2. My wife’s sister lived out there and whilst some things are expensive when looking at like for like, 👍🏻 that things are significantly cheaper. You adjust your lifestyle / buying habits where possible so it’s hard to do a like for like comparison. Her husband works for a pest control company, she doesn’t work / does a bit of part time work. They own a 4 bedroom house with a swimming pool in a nice area, where the local parks and scenery are stunning, extremely well kept and managed. They have access to similar levels of services, good education, health, etc. Would they be able to live anywhere near that level of lifestyle in the UK? Raising 3 kids on 1 persons wage, buying a 4 bed house with a pool and living in a lovely area… definitely not! Costs have gone up over there no doubt, the same as anywhere else in the world.
  3. You have to ask where they went wrong. A reputation for poor workmanship and issues these days.
  4. Check with the clay ground. The one South of Bristol is very relaxed and shouldn’t be an issue, but check as you never know they have have tightened up. The ones North of Bristol are strict and won’t let non SGC shoot unless with an instructor (one of theirs) which obvs makes it costly.
  5. Does diesel or petrol strip blueing? I'm sure I saw a post on FB the other week off one of the big barrel blueing guys showing a gun that had been stood in something to loosen a stuck choke. Blueing was totally gone in the submerged part.
  6. got a Hawke red dot if you’re after a cheap one for an air rifle 👍🏻
  7. I have one of these as I have upgraded 👍🏻
  8. Ah nice. I used to shoot in a pub league on the old bell targets with rifles with those sights. Great fun, but I think the guns were only about 6 ft/lb in energy as don’t need to be full power.
  9. Why not get a PCP considering you’re trying to get the attributes of one?
  10. The event organisers seem to charge the stands so many thousands to be there that there aren’t many good deals to be had anymore. I chatted to the Teague chokes stand, they wanted about £15 per choke more than I could buy them online. I asked the man on the stand if he’d price match and he just huffed and said “they shouldn’t be selling them for that low!” And turned his back 🤣 I think a lot of smaller people pulled out last year cos they were being charged so much by the venue. You just end up with loads of stands of the same stuff with the big names.
  11. Depends how you look at it, if you have a quality working animal, that’s healthy and got good traits, and someone is going to breed their bitch, are they better off using your quality, proven, healthy dog? Or some random dog potentially with faults and health issues. As I said he’s only had 3 bitches. First litter was bred to a fully health tested trial award winning bitch, all went to “working” homes, some as Gundogs, but others working in sports such as agility and fly ball. Reports back from new owners that one pup has won awards in puppy Gundog completions, and another has won some sort of flyball awards / competitions (however that works, not my cup of tea). The two other bitches have only been recently, both well bred working line birches that are health clear of issues. One the bloke just does a bit around his farm and the other the woman does agility. Both owners are keeping pups back for themselves. If someone turned up who was clearly just pumping out a litter for ££ I wouldn’t be interested, but happy to consider people who ‘work’ their dogs just in other ways. I charged £350 for stud fee, for a fully health tested clear dog who’s a trial winner / open award winner.
  12. It’s a drop in the ocean when you look at the size and scale of the organisation.
  13. Also this, another chance to sling mud. They do seem to jump on any opportunity to try and criticise him. There’ll be American citizens asking why they’re sending so much money to Europe when they’ve got their own issues on US soil that the money could be spent on.
  14. My friend who was a nurse at the time said her trust bought each nurse a mug. She said they had the money and just needed something they could hand out to the staff to say “this is what the money was spent on”. When split across everyone it wasn’t enough to do much. She said she’d rather they’d used it for a project, room or whatever, for the patients etc. A mug that we’ve all got cupboards full of already.
  15. If it kicks of properly, all put war, the ‘geeks’ and people who likely have autism, sat in GCHQ and MOD facilities around the UK will be able to do more damage to Russia than a soldier with a rifle. Cyber warfare switching off huge infrastructure, electricity, water, internet, communications etc. As for Trump, what he said (quite bluntly, which is his style)… how can Countries who have signed up to NATO’s agreement to spend a set amount, then choose quite willingly not to spend that money, leave themselves short defence wise, then come crying to NATO and the USA when they need defensive arms / infrastructure. Those countries aren’t paying their insurance premiums but expect to cash in the policy if there’s a claim! Why should citizens in the USA be funding European counties defence costs / insurance, when they are choosing not to invest in those services themselves? Our cyber / aerospace / military etc industry does pretty well.
  16. I charged a stud fee for the last ones (he’s only done 3). When we move house and we have more land / space I’ll be looking to get a kennels up as our garden too small for one atm. Will allow opportunity to have more dogs if needed, will see.
  17. As much as we like to slate big organisation and banks etc, we would definitely not be in a better place without an organised financial system.
  18. As Krico said, my lad Ted has had two maiden bitches a few weeks back, both bitches stood and he was in and tied within a few minutes. They were tied longer than the foreplay. If however the bitch is standing and the dog just ain’t performing you can try giving them a break, and trying again. Some people will leave the bitch with the stud owner so they have no time pressure to perform.
  19. These early childhood experiences explain a lot 🤣🤣🤣
  20. No, what it boils down to is funding. Those planners didn’t look at that project and say “right they need to serve 75,000 people so let’s build a place that can only manage 45,000… that’ll be a laugh!”. What very very likely has happened is that they’ve priced up a site than can manage 75,000 and its significant more than they have a budget for! Instead they have to design something within budget, and that’s what you got. I believe @oowee had similar issues when working for the Government on a project for electric car chargers. They asked him to look at how many chargers they needed to cover the country, when he worked it out they basically said “we aren’t spending that much, make do with this amount”. What are managers supposed to do without the resources / infrastructure? Failures of Government.
  21. So we should cut off funding to current failing or badly performing services? In some sort of hope they then completely revolutionise the way they work? What jobs / cuts can we do without? Apart from the “woke” jobs that people obviously complain about… which if cut would be a drop in the ocean funding wise. Can we do without HR? Managers? Do private hospitals not have managers? Do staff not have supervision, training, oversight, do people not collect statistics and look at trends for planning. Prisons, Police, Social Care, NHS, Ambulance Service, then we have flooding blamed on lack of maintenance from water ways etc. How is a single public service not functioning to any decent standard? Surely a single one would be able to be run / managed effectively if it’s all down to failures of management? Private hospitals such as the one the King has used, where he is able to start major treatment within days of a diagnosis, isn’t just better managed, the issues and situation they face are significantly different. If someone overstays, needs additional treatment, whatever, they bill for it, itemised bills for everything they do. They don’t have a set budget that they have to make last for the year no matter what.
  22. What sort of geese are they? Do you keep them for meat birds. Me and the wife love eating goose… wondered about getting a few in future. Don’t they just eat the grass?
  23. This is the key. Consider your fuel, but also your time. I am able to get a cartridge delivery to my front door, on a day that I’m in work, without having to take any leave, or take time away from my days off, for the amount it would likely cost me (or not far from it) to drive to the nearest big RFD… and then find out they don’t have what I want in stock. I normally always buy at least 1000 (4 slabs) as it’s still £15 so the delivery charge is minimal. I have heard they aren’t the absolute cheapest for their carts, however my local RFD price matches them so it’s the same cost to me locally anyways.
