  1. Good point Harnser, as i use my rifle mostly for foxing from a vehicle i chamber the bullet several times, as i don't like the rifle loaded in the vehicle with the safety catch on, as i said i used to crimp everything but was put off and i remember some people warning me that i could get high pressures by crimping … Any thoughts on that?
  2. Thanks all very interesting, what i have noticed when seating the bullet in the case is that the pressure needed to push the bullet in does vary a bit so i thought if i crimp then this would even things up and with the lee crimp die i can adjust it to do a light crimp
  3. Just been reloading some 243 bullets and noticed my lee factory crimp die in the box. I used to use it all the time but was put off using it by people telling me it was not needed but reading the lee info sheet they claim more constant velocity and greater accuracy, so i thought do i crimp or do i not …. What do you all think?
  4. Hi evo, are we still talking fac air wolf
  5. I have just bought a s/h air wolf fac which is why i have been testing different pellets, interesting what you say about your rifle pork chop as my rifle shoots barracudas and bis mags just the same, one hole groups at 40 mtr, but looking closely at the two pellets they appear the same on the outside but inside the skirt there is a slight difference and the baracudas do travel a tad faster being slightly lighter, i also noticed that the bis mags were a bit harder to push into the barrel which is why i was looking at 5.51 which my tin of barracudas were. i may give John Rotherys a call to clear the mystery over the bis mags
  6. Went to my local shop and bought a tin of bis mags, as i was looking for 5.51 size i looked at the bottom of the tin and saw a sticker with baracuda on it, the staff in the shop were a bit confused as was i. So today i have phoned a different shop asking for bis mags in 5.51, the shop owner looked to see the size and was also confused at the baracuda sticker on the bottom. So i ask, have i bought bis mags or bar match? are they the same as each other? or are they mixed? if i open the tin from the top they are bis mags, but if i open from the bottom they are bar match ..... hellllllllllllllllllp
  7. As i say all interesting points of view but if i can drift back to fac air, there seems to be a couple of thumbs up to the .25 cal air gun, i would be interested in the views of users of this cal ... accuracy ... trajectory ... wind drift. It seems this cal is being spoken about more favourably now and in fac i would imagine it hits with some force
  8. We are not comparing fac air with a .22rf dadioles, Its just i myself am an air rifle enthusiast, and i use rifles from air gun up to 243 i do like fac air to extend the range for rabbit shooting which is why i asked the question concerning accuracy because as with any shooting accuracy is the most important part, i assume you would agree with that. The fac air rifle has a few plus points over the rimfire because crows pigeons and squirrels can all be taken from trees and on the ground you don't get as many ricochets as you do with the .22rf ... But all very interesting points of view
  9. Thanks pabs, thats the sort of info i am looking for, so are you saying that over 900fps is the speed that things start to deteriorate or is this just a random speed example?
  10. Thinking of trying one of the daystates in fac say an air wolf, but on a 22cal at what power level do start to loose accuracy 40....50....60....ft/lb ?, And would .25 be any better at high power?
  11. for sale a wildcat predator 8 mod for 243 threaded 18/1 £125
  12. i need a knife for skinning and butchering deer, ive had several cheap ones which when new are sharp and do a good job but after the first sharpen are rubbish. So my question is, what is the benchmark price you have to pay to get a good quality knife which will sharpen time after time and last?
  13. Steer clear of them there is no need to use them and they leave the barrel very dirty, a friend of mine used them and decided he didn't like them and it took him an age to get the barrel clean, but i agree with rem708 stay with them once you have used them
  14. Just a thought, if PPU made 17hmr ammo what do you think the price would be? [ assuming they don't already ]
  15. Thanks for the replies, i will take your offer GP1 thank you, i notice that the loaded ammo only seems to come in 90+ grains and i prefer the lighter end 55 - 70 grain so i still prefer to buy just the cases, is henry crank the cheapest place to buy them? ... £35 per 100
  16. Thinking of trying a pack of these brass cases in 243, seem a lot cheaper than other makes and the same price as some people are asking for once fired, i would be interested in the opinions of those of you who have reloaded them ... thanks

    IR TORCH

Cree ultrafire ir torch for sale, this torch was purchased as a normal zoom torch but i have replaced the normal led with a 1w 850 infrared led bulb so now has a zoomable ir beam and works very well with night vision and is more than capable out to fac air gun range or rimfire, comes with two rechargeable 18650 batteries and charger £35 posted
  19. before you buy, have a look at the home builds on other forums, you can build your own for about £280 and it will get you out to 300yds . look on you tube search for marky610 and see for your self
  20. Just been full length sizing some once fired 243 cases and measured the case length and they averaged out at 2.035 and the book length states 2.045, how common is this?, been loading the 243 for quite a while now and i notice this regularly, i used to load 223 and found the same with those cases too, makes me wonder weather to trim or not
  21. Straight foreword question, which c/f rifle barrel is the more accurate heavy varmint or standard weight?, assuming both have moderators fitted
