  1. when reloading for my 243 the only primer i have used are winchester but my local shop has only remington at the moment so my question is. are they the same power as the wins?
  2. Mine is kept in the garage but in this cold weather i cannot fill my gun to max, so i put it in the house for a while and hey-presto it now fills to the max and more, so my bottle likes room temp, has anybody else noticed this?
  3. What do you think, a bit DAFT or WORTHWHILE ?
  4. glad to hear you say that harnesser, because part of the reason i crimp is that i do lots of foxing from a vehicle and it dosnt feel right to me to have a loaded rifle in the vehicle with the safety on , so if i cock the rifle and don't shoot i then take the round out and as you know this may happen several times
  5. forgot to say that i also use the lee factory crimp, my friend thought that i would be reaching high pressures but i have never seen any signs of this
  6. In a conversation with a friend yesterday i mentioned that i crimped my reloads,he was very shocked that i did and said he knows of nobody that crimps varmint loads so just had a read of my lee reloading book and the author seems to say he is a great believer in crimping, i use hornaday v max and nos ballistic tips, none of which have crimping grooves in them, WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK, AM I RIGHT OR WRONG ?
  7. HERES A NEW YEARS PELLET REVIEW, Over the christmas holiday i treated myself to a new r10 fac, and got it zero'd in using bisley mags and all was well, then i tried some lighter pellets, accupels, not quite as good as bis mags but ok. NOW DONT FALL ASLEEP HERE COMES THE EXCITING BIT So then i thought i better try something that was somewhere in the middle weight wise,i looked at a pellet chart and found them, YES NICE POINTY THINGS WITH RIBS RUNNING AROUND THEM So went to my local shop and bought a tin, BISLEY PREMIER I rushed back home and went straight to the farm set the target up at 40mtr, loaded the mag up and TOOK AIM and my first pellet hit just to the right of bull the second 3 inches to the left, as i kept pulling the trigger i could hardly control my excitement so had to take a WEE break, after the mag was empty my body shook with disbelief so i just had to try 5 more and sure enough a pattern appeared about 10 inches in a sort of scatter pattern I THOUGHT YEEES IVE CRACKED IT No running rabbit would be safe BY THE WAY A COUPLE OF PELLETS HIT THE DIRT ABOUT A FOOT SHORT AND ANOTHER I NEVER DID KNOW WHERE IT WENT But i put this down to me pulling the shots in excitement. Now still in a state of wonder i feel i should share this experience with another luckey air gunner so this is what i am willing to do, The first person to send me the p/p can have the rest of the tin FREE yes i said FREE and by the way if you are that person, why not make your friends happy and share some with them, SO HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY YOUR PELLETS FLY STRAIGHT.............PS Don't try to find out where my local shop is as it will do you no good as I've bought there in entire stock
  8. hi, just bought an r10 fac and notice that the barrel is longer than the sub 12fps model [not that i mind], some years ago i also owned a rapid 7 fac and it also had the same longer barrel than the standard, i notice on lots of forums that it is very common to have air rifles customised which includes shortening the barrel length, question is what is the reason for this?, what do you gain or lose?, after all the makers of fac air rifles must have a reason for choosing the final length
  9. one large set , funds sent , i hope we get some winter weather now thanks
  10. my 232 bar dive cylinder is due for a test and as i am moving up to fac power i wondered if any of you other fac air rifle users fill using hand pumps, i would be interested to know how you find them compared to cylinder fill?

    FAC Power

my fac is now due for renewal and i am going to add an air rifle and notice at .22 cal most of them run at 30ft/lb, But also i see a few running up to 80ft/lb, what are the pros and cons of this super increase in power?
  12. ive just been given some once fired 243 cases, they are hornaday v max moly boxes but i notice that the name stamped on the cartridges is frontier, a name ive not heard of before, anybody have any info about them, or loaded them before?

  15. looking to get some night vis for airgunning rabbits, which is best add ons or dedicated scope type? my budget will be gen1+ be interested in any adsvice thanks
  16. again thanks for the advice, Ben to say i am very serious would be overstating it as i am out lamping charlie three times a week so dousnt leave lots of time for airgunning raddits, but i do have access to severel grass fields around the ely area where i get lots of backlight from the city which is why i thought a cheap s/h gen 1 would be interesting to try and the add on monocular type seems the perfect choice {provided i can actually see a rabbit at normal air gun range} thanks
  17. thanks for that Steve, i will keep my eye open for one, i take it wee are still talking about gen 1
  18. thanks for the advice, i better keep my money in my wallet, i did wonder why there were so many for sale at cheap prices on ebay, i just wonder why anybody buys a gen 1 if all you can get is 25yds distance...again thanks for the replies
  19. hi ive been thinking of trying a night vis monocular {the type that fits to the scope} on my air rifle, i want to keep it as cheap as *** so i am looking at gen 1, i hear mostly bad things about them but as i will only be shooting at short range rabbits max 40yds and mostly on the outskirts of town where there is light from street lamps and factory security lights, i ask what is the opinion is on this situation? worth it or not
  20. thanks for the replies, as a farmer myself i agree with the litter problem caused by plas wads, but if i ask the question another way it would be interesting to hear your oppinions, if for instance plas and fibre were completely harmless to the environment and all the game shoots and clay shoots allowed them both, then which ones would use?
  21. Thinking of ordering some 12 bore cartridges for the game season, and cant decide weather to go for plastic or fibre, i use an old english s/s for my game shooting with a 2 1/2 in chamber and have allways used plastic believing they kill better, Does anybody know of any reserch done on this subject?
  22. what i do with my mods is wrap them with the fabric type camo tape, that works fine and protects them from being scratched
