Harden it ....cherry red and depending what steel you have quench in oil or water clean and slight polish maybe put on a steel plate and slowly heat up so the colour changes to irridecent blue removed from heat let it cool fit to gun if it dosnt fit ...heat to cherry red and let it cool slowly so it is annealed and you can work on it start at number one again
