  1. I almost prefer a NE. Having the spent shells gathered conveniently together after a shoot is one less thing to worry about. I say 'almost' as I was lucky enough to have such a hectic session on the pigeons the other day that an ejector would have helped. I just couldn't reload fast enough. Never known birds to come in like they did that day. I do prefer a NE when clay shooting as it slows me down and helps my concentration somehow. GH
  2. I think I've sent you a PM but if not received one could you let me know. Thanks GH
  3. Mr Avery's comments about BoP and Grousemoor Keepers is like saying all dentists shoot lions! GH
  4. Have you got a long connection to/from the battery? That can slow a motor down due to the extra length creating more resistance. I think mine runs fairly slow, still seems to work. GH
  5. I suppose it depends on what you plan to use it for,you haven't said. I've got both, an O/U and a SxS in 20g. I find them great to shoot, very easy on the shoulder, especially with 21grm loads. I find there's not that much difference in knock-down power compared to a 12g although there are obvious limitations. A 28g is even more expensive to run and there is a very limited choice in ammo.
  6. The signal was too woolly so they couldn't be herd. ( I know! but 'flock' wouldn't work) GH
  7. 1962/3, aged 14,first shot at a crossing pigeon. Never forgotten as ,apart from missing(of course) I cut my lip which bled profusely....the gun...a single-barrelled AYA Cosmos! I still have it although its in poor condition and I would never shoot it! Eventually I shot very well with it but it obviously didn't fit then because it still doesn't! GH
  8. Algon. Spray it on when it's warm and dry.Leave it for a few days and then jet wash. Great for greenhouses too. It will kill plants too so watch the overspray. GH
  9. My thought is Patterdale or similar. Back legs too long for a badger I would have thought. GH
  10. I recall a tale my late best mate related regarding a 'road-kill badger'. He was on his way home quite late one night and came across a badger lying, aparrently dead, in the middle of a country road. He was driving a Triumph Spitfire so he more or less had to stop due to the lack of road clearance. Having stopped to move the carcass he decided it would make a great taxidermists project and promptly chucked in the boot. Got home and went to bed, leaving the 'dead' badger in the car. Next morning, he thought he would remove the body so that he wasn't driving round with it all day. He opened the boot only to be met by a more than irate badger, which lept out past him and ran off, leaving behind it a totally trashed boot-lining in his pride and joy! Therefore, I can well understand the OP's caution when approaching an 'apparently' dead badger! GH
  11. I could have posted the above!! Most of my shooting is around Whitchurch and I shoot at Mickley most weeks. I only moved to Hodnet last year so I'm still getting to know the place but I'll help if I can. GH
  12. That's a great result, particularly when it comes back totally cured. I've got a mod on mine that makes it group like a shotgun if its not done up tight! Absolutely spot-on if it is. I know that is the threads in the mod for sure. It seems very loose until its screwed right up. GH
  13. WOW, sooo impressed! Best I've seen. GH
  14. Here's another Turkish gun......Yildiz! I'm biased coz I've got two so all I'll say is, I'm 6ft 2 with long arms and it fits, its light a very easy on the shoulder especially with 24grm loads. GH
  15. From what I've gathered off PW you are more than a decent bloke Bakerboy so, as such, you deserve all the good fortune I hope you get and everything turns out well! GH
  16. I would be okay about sending SGC/FAC to a dealer but not to private individual! What if the whole transaction turned out to be a scam(wouldn't be the first time, would it?). You've then got no gun and no cert AND they know what other guns you have and where to find them! A potential nightmare IMO!! GH
  17. I have just offered my .22 setup to a mate who's just starting out.I enjoy shooting the HMR more and agree, the bouncy 22 is always a worry. I've got FAC air to fill in on the noise sensitive night raids. IMO both do the job so it comes down to personal circumstances and preferences. GH
  18. My first thought was ...top=rat bottom = woodmouse. GH
  19. I only have 20g's so can't help with measurements, however, if all else fails you could perhaps try ringing Nigel Teague. He may be able to tell you what type of choke you need. Teague presicion chokes is the company name. Google it. GH
  20. Went with the other half. Made some good buys so càme away very happy. Give yourself plenty of time to get there as there's roadworks with speed restrictions on M6 and M54 if you are travelling south. It took us an extra 40 mins this morning. GH
  21. I shoot a 20 and I'm not gay and, for the record, my hairdresser isn't gay either! GH
  22. Hawkeye is your man. He's so much cheaper and makes them to pull in pigeons not punters(tin hat duly adorned). Admittedly, Greenies are well painted but the pigeons should be dead before they see the fantistic paint job (imho). GH
  23. If it's not the fit, it is possible to get finger guards which attach just behind the trigger guard. They have a small but and bolt which goes through the small triangle. I have one on both my shotguns. Off the bay, search 'finger guard’. GH
  24. I've had a 26" and a 30". The 26" was possibly more pointable but the 30"was better on longer targets. The 30 needed a new gunslip and wouldn't fit in a standard safe. Just something to take into consideration. GH
  25. I had one a few years ago.I enjoyed shooting it as I shot well with it(for me). Only sold it when I had problems with my hands. GH
