I have now heard of 3 big shoots not far away binning this season as they can’t get Partridges and no guarantee on Pheasants.

Docked tail every time for me with my working dogs. Even one of mine with a longer dock still gets tail damage.

My regular supplier of Pheasant poults can still supply me with my 1000 all be it a month later than normal. We can live with this just adjust our dates, I also want to support him as he has always been good to us. His Partridges are at the moment a no go as they can't get eggs come from France. Hopefully they might get some but later than normal, a big shoot I know is already talking about cancelling Partridge days in September. How is everyone else fairing? I would not like to be a Game Farmer.

Things are more stupid than normal in Cornwall, local garages are taking the p!$$ with prices when they have it. Local garage had a delivery of diesel on Wednesday after running out. Loads of people wanting it, maximum of £30. I needed some but went just before they close at 7 pm no queue, old guy in from of me put in £4.83! when I went to pay the garage owner was still trying to say that the minimum is £5 but he explained that's all he could fit in the tank. I expect his little car would do 500 miles on a tank full.

I had a set of Cens Proflex, they were very good unfortunately I lost them and due to the Cens customer service I decided to take my money elsewhere. I now have a pair from customfitguards.com and they are every bit as good as the Cens, execpt they have a customer service department that wants to help customers.

Horrible moment for you. I manged to corner my Daughters cat that is staying with us with my Daughter for a few weeks in our summerhouse after it escaped the house. I had to wait for her to get home as it does not like me. When she came home she found her cat was asleep on her bed upstairs, I had cornered one of the farm strays we have around the place is was fairly unhappy. In my defence it was the nearly the same colour.

At the moment our birds are quite active from about 5 am. I think its fairly important to have one or two early mornings at a distance to see what your birds are doing. One morning a few seasons ago a could see the birds dropping out the pen to a fox waiting in that area of long grass, I guess we would of spotted it but my early morning saved a few birds. I certainly would not be too close to the pens at dusk.
